I mean he had a couple of stinkers last season too.

I get the excitement but let's slow the roll a bit and make sure he can sustain at the NHL level once the NHL gets a scouting report on him. Let's let him earn it before crowning him king.

after seeing such putrid goaltending all season, it’s refreshing to see someone so composed in net like jet. that’s all.

I think Tarasov is done

Don't make the decision on one game but we'll see how the weekend goes and make the call from there to make sure Jet is ready for regular NHL time.

We've seen enough from Tarasov but I would like to see more from Jet considering our organizational goaltending depth behind him is not existent.

*might* is the key. It's too early.

If Evason decides to play with Merzlikins for the rest of the season, Jet will end up like Tarasov. He'll be rusty while not being able to make a single mistake.

Not specifically sure what that means. I think Elvis was playing so much because they had no trust in Tarasov. I think playing time would be more split for the rest of the season if they move on.

They do owe a decent goaltender to Cleveland. I don't know if that can be Tarasov to figure himself out or if they need to acquire one but Cleveland can't go the rest of the season with Sawchenko and Cajan as the goalie tandem if Jet stays here.

What?

Nobody is going to blame Jet for giving up a goal on a shot from that far out? :sarcasm:

I came back here expecting people to even try to find a way to blame Elvis for this goal.
You.....I like you.

So very true, if that was Elvis giving up that OT goal he'd be vilified.

I like Jet, he's a calming presence - but yeah, people need to resist crowning him just yet.

I thought we were outmanned the first 10 minutes. Competent goaltending kept us from going down 2 or 3 goals. Things looked even from there. With four straight FO wins to keep possession, we had a good chance to win it in OT.

Good for Jet. Nice to see him finding early success in the NHL. Still has a ways to go, but it is a nice start. Looking at his game logs, he faces a lot of shots per game. He has faced less than 34 shots in a game as much as he has faced 40 or more. He has had a few below .900 games, but followed them up with solid efforts.

The comments on Elvis being villified if he gave up that losing goal is kind of funny. I remember a few short years ago when another guy was getting the crap Elvis is now and we didn't hear how bad the guys were in front of him on a consistant basis.

Don't know if Jet will be able to continue to play solid, but hope to see it. He has put in his time in Cleveland and is a much better goalie now than he was when he arrived here.
He has earned it much like Kivlenieks had before his tragedy.

Nice game by Greaves. It's hard to be consistent for any goalie in the NHL so hopefully he can continue to add stability.

While I do think people may be jumping the shark on anointing Greaves as the #1 goalie, I have no issue anointing Greaves as the backup with potential to be more.

The only thing that sucks is what it does to Cleveland. Them having success matters to me. Hopefully if Tarasov is waived he can go down there and help. And if he doesn’t make it through, hopefully there’s something we can do to help Cleveland.

It would suck losing Greaves, but its all part of the process. If they decide to go with him as a backup, that's good because he worked hard for it and earned it.

I feel OK with Sawchenko. He may benefit from more consistant playing time, and Cajan has also played better over his time here. If either of those two goes down, who knows what they get.
