Bumped the head.If it were the other way around, I'd be livid at that being called interference. He's in the paint, yeah, but never moves into Blackwood at all
looks like he bumped blackwood too. after reading that down goes brown article, these GI calls are pretty cut and dry. basically as long as the skater does something in the space of the blue paint to hinder the goalie, it's going to be GI.If it were the other way around, I'd be livid at that being called interference. He's in the paint, yeah, but never moves into Blackwood at all
It has been super consistent this year, if you go into the crease on your own and make any contact with the goalie it is no goal.I dislike the overturning of the goal. That's so minor.
I read the DGB article too, but I still think that's soft AF. At a certain point you have to let hockey players play hockey. Gourde was playing his position and wasn't initiating contact or boxing out Blackwood from playing his.looks like he bumped blackwood too. after reading that down goes brown article, these GI calls are pretty cut and dry. basically as long as the skater does something in the space of the blue paint to hinder the goalie, it's going to be GI.
I'm with Gecklund here. I don't 'disagree' with the call as much as I dislike this overall NHL GI direction for the league. It has been super consistent this year, if you go into the crease on your own and make any contact with the goalie it is no goal.
At zero point is a forwards position supposed to be inside of the goalie crease.I read the DGB article too, but I still think that's soft AF. At a certain point you have to let hockey players play hockey. Gourde was playing his position and wasn't initiating contact or boxing out Blackwood from playing his.
i guess the problem then would be the existence of the crease and giving goalies special rights to that space.I read the DGB article too, but I still think that's soft AF. At a certain point you have to let hockey players play hockey. Gourde was playing his position and wasn't initiating contact or boxing out Blackwood from playing his.
Maybe, but Mario sort of hit it when asked what makes him able to join the rush and he basically said it's the fact that the forwards are good at coming back and helping out and I honestly think that's been an aspect that has been unfairly put on the shoulders of the D-men. The forwards in years past were awful at coming back and helping out in their own zone and in a way it forced all of the D-men to take a more cautious approach whenever they left the zone. The results were less risks, less pinches and predictable break-outs. Now, having forwards capable of playing the point and coming back if a D-man ends up in deep on a turnover means they can be a little more aggressive than they've been.
He’s no Kevin Labanc. Are you saying Mike Hoffman was not a good backchecker?????

This is probably the better way to put it. Yes right call based in the precedent but wow I hate that precedent. Gourde was screening Blackwood and Blackwood’s head grazed Gourde. There was nothing stopping Blackwood from making that save physically. He was slow to see the shot.I'm with Gecklund here. I don't 'disagree' with the call as much as I dislike this overall NHL GI direction for the league.
We have the most GP and the teams behind us won't be bad forever (barring Chicago, who is actually terrible). This team's finishing Bottom 3 because the Defense despite Walman playing lights out is still terribad. It’s a good win overall. They’re a bad team on the road in a home and home back to back. It doesn’t matter how. Just get it done and they did. Down to 4th overall with this bit of good play against meh teams. I’ll only allow improved play if it’s Celebrini carrying them and yeah he’s doing it.
That's my one old-guy take. I've always been a fan of the hard-nosed net front players and I feel like there should be more respect for the battle in front of the net rather than a blanket "floor is lava" approach. I feel like goalies are athletes like the other 10 guys on the ice. Yeah, there should be respect for the vulnerability their position puts on them, but that shouldn't make them exempt from battling for space within reason.i guess the problem then would be the existence of the crease and giving goalies special rights to that space.
I would like to thank the NHL situation room and Luke Kunin for their leadership in tonight's SNOG win.SNOG announcement
An old soothsaying strategy saw success tonight.
Congrats @bluefunnel on your 2nd SNOG of the season!

Actually farther apparently, as of this post there are 5 teams with less points. Granted we have played 5, 4, 2 games more then everyone below us lolIt’s a good win overall. They’re a bad team on the road in a home and home back to back. It doesn’t matter how. Just get it done and they did. Down to 4th overall with this bit of good play against meh teams. i get it but i disagree just from how fuzzy the line already is. we want to get as much guesswork and subjectivity out of GI as possible and i think having a pretty strict black and white rule is your best bet. That's my one old-guy take. I've always been a fan of the hard-nosed net front players and I feel like there should be more respect for the battle in front of the net rather than a blanket "floor is lava" approach. The converse is true, too. The infamous clip of Chris Kreider bulldozing Carey Price was ruled OK because it was out of the paint, but it shouldn't have been. Refs are supposed to have common sense and discretion, let them use it.
