Whatever it takes to win the 100 year war just do it. I still remember these like yesterday.

Not tomorrow, not in another hundred years, not ever again. Just beat the Habs.

In 1996 we met Rejean Houle (who was Montreal's GM at the time)through a connection with his sister who worked with one of my buddies.
We met him before the Oilers\Habs game at Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton at his suite.

He met us at the door and with his heavy French accent said " You must be de fellas from Saskatchewan...come on in"
Sat with him, he had a bucket pops ready (he didn't have one) told us stories. He was genuine and one of the nicest guys . He showed us his '73 Cup ring.
Took some pics.

I reminded him of how I felt of the goal he scored in game 7 in '71 as he zoomed in to tip it in past Cheevers. "No hard feelings" He laughed.

I lied. There are hard feelings, but hey, he gave me a beer.😁
_____________________________________________

*An add on to this riveting tale: my buddy asked if "Patrick Roy was going to be in net that night?"
Houle said "yes...Patrick has made a lot of good save since we took over"(new GM)
Three weeks later Pat had his melt down at the Forum vs Detroit. Off he went to Colorado!

They spent an entire season celebrating the 100th season.

And I’ll say they did a good job with the Centennial.

I get that it’s the anniversary, but this feels like reheated leftovers.

And it probably because the team sucks right now.

And that the end of the day, that’s what matters to many fans.

I agree with @EverettMike in terms of this going up against NFL Sunday. I get that it’s the anniversary.

A bottom dweller against a fringe playoff team with a bunch of plugs that can’t score.

This product at present barely resembles the team and sport I fell in love with.

I couldn't give a crap about football. Hockey is all that matters, so suck it up. Watch the game your loyalties are with, if it isn't the Bruins, we won't miss you.

I am already fired up, no excuses for losing this game. Bruins win big, I have faith.

I get that the anniversary is the anniversary---though, like you said, should we really be that jazzed for tomorrow when they celebrated "the centennial" all of last season so they could milk it for every cent possible?---but 3 pm? I would have preferred noon, but anytime after 430 would have been a million times better on a football Sunday.

That statue looks fantastic. Only fitting that an ass like Steve Conroy is placed exactly where he belongs. Clutch those pearls tighter Steve because the world evolves unlike yourself.

Kraft’s lighthouse…. Jacobs’ bear statue.

All well and fine, but what matters most is the product on the field/ice.

Steve Conroy just whines about everything on social media these days and him complaining about where his seat was today was the icing on the cake. He may be more thin skinned than our friend Jimmy.

Not only did he not whine about his seat, he made a self-deprecating joke about it, the opposite of being thin-skinned.

I've never followed him on social media and don't read the Herald, so maybe everything else you said is correct, but you're definitely wrong about his posts about the statue.

We will agree to disagree on this and move on.
