BTW, a question of those in the know: When does the league front office shut down for the holidays? What is the last day that a team can make a trade before Christmas?

It's an easier pass if the goal is for the receiver to stop the puck before shooting. For Pasta to get off the one-timer properly when the pass is coming at him from an angle, it needs to be spinning counter clock-wise, which is much easier for a left-hand player at the top of the umbrella to pull off than a righty, who naturally spins those angle passes clock-wise, the spin being caused by the hands being pulled slightly inward while making a passing motion.

The left-handed point man also has his hands further away from the penalty killing forwards than a righty making it harder to pick off the pass.

This issue is both McAvoy's reluctance to shoot, his indecisive decision making, and what hand he shoots with.

I'd put Lohrei there ASAP and see how it goes. If that fails, when Hampus comes back I'd use him there. But I'd have McAvoy permanent off the 1st PP unit pronto.

The other change I would make is I'd take Zacha off the PP unit, replace him with Brazeau and put Brazeau in the bumper and have him drift from the bumper to the front of the net trying to move defenders with him. Marchand would go down low beside the net where Zacha is now, Elias to the right side half-wall. Pasta in the same spot. The don't need to invert every player on the PP, Elias can work on his natural side.
Monty and now Sacco can't see the forest for the trees. Don't know what it is but they seem to have no imagination. Keep doing the same thing over and over with worse results.
The players last night looked as unmotivated as they did 2 weeks ago.
They need Attila The Hun behind the bench at this point?
If this goes on past the Holidays, I see no reason to keep 90% of the players or coaches on UP. Once the fans start voting with their $$$ it'll be curtains for all.
Some here have said that we're spoiled, if that's the case what are the multi-millionaire players?!!

Under Montgomery, I feel like they tried an umbrella formation 1-1-3 one game and they got some good looks in. I'm not sure why there is a reluctance to change their scheme when it hasn't been successful at all, regardless of personnel changes on special teams. I like Chris Kelly, but having a PK specialist coach the PP is backwards.

Those lines are gross

“This year’s holiday roster freeze is set from December 20 through December 27. For the Christmas holiday, the league is breaking completely with no practices allowed from December 24 through 26.”

I guess I'm bias, but seeing people equate Zadorov and Malkin's infractions as "Fair they both get 5K" is crazy to me.

Obviously Zadorov started it and broke an important bench rule... but swinging a stick at a player's face seems way worse in terms of "Player Safety".

Then again, remember Trouba's baseball swing at Frederic? Strange league.

Well, looks like they've change things up. Just based on face value, the PP changes are the equivalent of throwing poop at a wall and seeing what sticks. A big mish-mash of changes while maintaining the key problem (McAvoy at the top of the umbrella in a set-up to maximize left half-wall one-timers).

They only punish certain tiers of players. The evidence has been there for years.
