I don't get this "defensive shell" complaint. Every team does it. I don't want these idiots making risky plays in their own zone. "Let me just swing this pass through the middle of the ice..." Hell no. You've got no options, chip it out. Don't force passes. And don't get caught on the wrong side of the puck, either. Man, you'd get crucified if your guy scores while you were cheating for offense. But that's all it takes for the ice to get titled sometimes.

Almost a third of the way through the season, PK worst in the league by far. in 25th place in the standings.

Seems like it's getting time to pull the rip cord on the season. Especially if Talbot is out for any length of time.

Eh, just because he scored some fluke goals today doesn't mean I'd take him and that contract in Detroit.

He'd be either on line1 or 2 and PP1 in Detroit and likely be a 60+ point guy. That's what 60 point guys are worth these days, my dude. 19 points in 23 games for DeBrusk this year.

We gotta find a team willing to take our spare parts. Detroit has 3 retention slots. Kane, Tarasenko and Lyon look like good candidates for that to get anything of value.
Trade Veleno for a bag of pucks
Waive Gustafsson and swap him for one of our minor league defensemen. They can't be worse.
Run with Talbot and Husso.
Expect to see this team finish bottom 4 and pick a real impact prospect.

If only we didnt have so many bad contracts already, I'd be willing to gamble.

Management needs to become more willing to pay the price to move on from the bad contracts. Admit your mistakes, move on.

Same. As horrible as losing is, I'd rather *really* tank and have a shot at someone like Misa than get the 10th pick.
Misa?

Is that Jar Jar Binks' favorite player?

If you were a 27 year-old DeBrusk would you have signed with Vancouver or Detroit?

It's not like Detroit can sign whoever they want and the player has no say.
But....but......we're an original six franchise with a cool logo. Isn't that enticing to free agents?

He'd probably be a 40 point guy in Detroit. Like, he was a 40 point guy in Boston and he'll probably end up between 40-50 in Vancouver this year too.
It's the back half of the deal that could be real problematic though. Yeah our team could improve in a myriad of ways, I just don't see overpaying Debrusk-types as the solution.
