A lot. It would seem like he’s not taking shit. In the long run moving Norris for anything he could realistically return changes nothing.
Well, it would free up 8M in cap space for the next 5 years for a play who isn't playing like an 8M player and also have massive injury risk hanging over him. If Staios could flip him for a bag of pucks it would be a big win if there was no retention or pick compensation attached.

Nobody would take Norris without retention. He is the type of player we keep during a rebuild because he has no value, and be one of the good players on a basement team. Like Mike Hoffman. The cap has no meaning to a rebuilding team who has no picks or assets to improve on Norris. Free agents don’t sign here unless on the way to the retirement home.

Similar to when Ryan Johansen was traded for a bag of pucks just to move his contract with no retention.

Petrified of what staios would do with 8 million dollars. 4 more guys with cup experience playing on fourth lines?

Just one time? Damn. 18-25 year old me lived a lifetime of bad decisions.

The sad thing is we need to trade all those listed for picks. Maybe keep Yak.Then be garbage for 5 years. Then hopefully 8 years from now be good with a young core. The team is not that bad but the mediocre cup is no prize. The shelves are worst in the league empty. If they can’t get to playoffs might as well go old yeller at the deadline. No point keeping Stu here. Let him go Stone style and enjoy him winning elsewhere, and get multiple high picks and prospects.
Lmao 8 years. Andlauer just paid a billion dollars for this team, they would have to relocate if they spent another 8 years losing.

I think if Norris plays every game or say 75+ games and there's no significant injury there is the potential you could trade him. Especially if he hits the 30+ goal mark which he's on pace for over 82 games.

You see glimpses of speed. You see him being physical occasionally. He can't be a center who drives a line but if you can find him the right wingers maybe he gets it done. I think there's a GM who would gamble on him provided they see 75+ healthy games and nothing related to the shoulder for any games he misses.

But Tkachuk is who you dangle out there. For some reason a huge chunk of fans, the media love him. I'm assuming many GMs feel the same way. He's not bad but he's not Matthew Tkachuk. He's not going to be a top line guy who can drive offense.

The only conclusion is that this team is not good, time to dismantle this pile of junk and start the next rebuilt but this time we can we focus on the back end? The only player I would keep is Stutzle if he wants to stay. This is a nightmare scenario but the only logical one. As fans we can't accept the status quo.

It’s gonna have to be a retool and not a rebuild. This team has already missed the playoffs for 7 straight years. Also, don’t forget about how they have to give up a 1st either this year or next.

So we are going to re-tool with no picks or prospects quickly. Got it. Have to know when to hold em vs fold em. This core had potential but if it can’t get across the finish line the prospect and draft capital we have is absolute garbage. Too bad for our new owner that we have no way no way out to this mess.

Or enlighten me, who do we trade to be competitive in 5 years or less. Even a half educated fan like myself can see this team is written off if Brady, Stu, Ullmark, Sandy can’t get us there. We have no away out than starting FYOUS from scorched earth

How do we re-tool and gain value? A re-tool would need picks and prospects to upgrade on Norris, Chabot (who is playing decent lately), Batherson, Brady no defence Tkachuk, etc. We have no assets or value to leverage to bring in better players. Unless we want to trade for Tarasenko type players and hope for the best. The proper strategy is get this core to perform, or hit the self destruct button and be patient.
