0 goals from your first line winger isn't. Schmaltz has more GVA/60 than any forward on this team not named LOB, and Doan is the only player on this team who has more TKA/60 than GVA/60. Josh Doan always gave it is all when here.
Oh Jakey, my friend… why are you always so wrapped in a players draft position, what line they’re on etc.?
I’m certain Schmaltz himself is not pleased with zero goals, but he’s smart enough to contribute in other ways. You on the other hand were belittled by the stat boys on this thread for years and have since done a 180 and seemingly are blind to what is actually happening.

really, schmaltz is underperforming. granted, that was a very nice assist on the OT winner the other night, but his overall play is hard for me to be happy about. I guess time and future personnel moves will tell the story.

Well, if he doesn’t improve on his goal production, his pay will decrease, no matter where he winds up.
But to sit and whine about a slumping player, who’s definitely contributing with play making, on the pk and defensively… not to mention that beautiful Schmaltzy puck thievery, only shows ignorance and/or frustration.

Schmaltz GVA/60 is tops on the team for forwards not named LOB. In fact, he gives away almost four time more than TKA/60. Schmaltz has 16 min of SHTOI. He is not prominent on the PK, like his line mates. I think it's frustration not ignorance.

You keep cherry picking these negative stats apparently w/o ever watching the games, or considering who Schmaltz is and what his role is..... except of course that he's a first line wing and you as well as the rest of us, want goals. You're showing no regard for the fact that he's leaned on for zone entry and as such more susceptible to give the puck away, nor are you accounting for the fact that it is far easier to give the puck away than it is to take it and if you were being honest you'd admit no one on the team has the thievery craft down as well as Schmaltz. Finally, you're picking and choosing regarding your consideration of the first line role.... downplay the pk contribution all you want, but he's a first liner pk'ing, just the same.

I think we're all frustrated with Schmaltz not being the Schmaltz we know (and some have always been frustrated by), but not only does continually whining about it not solve the problem, it makes it seemingly worse than it is, particularly when the whiner's refuse to acknowledge the positive aspects of his game and the effort being made to contribute within said positives.

He really hasn't been the player we know since he came back after missing camp, with the exception of a few glorious moments. None of us know why he was not in camp, or if that is having any effect on him, but he's always been a good enough player that it would be prudent to show some patience.
Hell, if you watched the games you'd have notice Keller isn't quite the same either. I don't know if it's internal, or if other teams having researched them and are thwarting them defensively, but things with the two are definitely off from last season and it sure as hell isn't all on Schmaltz.

If Schmaltz had potted 3 or 4 goals, even if they were not affecting the outcome of the game, this focus wouldn't be on him at all. He's been quite engaged, more so than we've seen out of him in a while, and if he had some goals I think he'd been ranked as one of the top performers of the season by those who are weighting his statline more highly before factoring in the rest of what he has done well.
