Oh, I'm anticipating the weeping and wailing when we start moving some of these players and the return isn't what some think it should be. Always amazes me that people expect "A List" talent in exchange for Grade C-D players
You haven't had enough of this core ? Who cares start over

You're not generally wrong, but I think you're misreading most of the board here. We don't want a hockey trade that's going to hopefully get the team out of a funk, and nobody is under the impression that Trouba brings back a first and a prospect.

We simply want this core tossed in an incinerator.

Feels a lot like the 2015-2016 season that ended in a five game exit, in all the wrong ways.

Thing to do now is absolutely not trade more assets to play Eric Staal on LW.

Also, if you wanted to go on this direction, let's say we cleared out the entire aging core.

A group of Laf, Chytil, Kakko, Berard, Cuylle, Trocheck (who I'm not really counting among the usual suspects at this point), Fox, Jones, etc., plus a few signings, could at least be a competitive roster.

I don't think moving a new direction is always as black and white as being as horrible as possible.

The point is, the longer we wait to completely change course, the more time we waste. It's over.

Some of the longest, most agonizing rebuilds (San Jose, Chicago) were caused by "kicks at the can" and not tearing it up immediately.

Oh I think he wanted to move Trouba and got cockblocked. Drury is right to want to make some serious moves.

Tough time of year to do it though.
He could have kept Buchnevich. He cators to the vets and not the young players that are playing well. Keep giving out NMC and NTC like candy

Can't handle it anymore. Can't watch it anymore. Joe and Sam must go. And the beat writers, and Maloney, and La Grecs. And Rangers twitter can stay over there while we go to Blue Heaven.

Scorched Earth.

The issues appears to (still) be, how do we get that true #1 center that you seem to need in order to truly be competitive?
We've tried to buy one for years and it hasn't worked.
They tend to go at the top of the draft (unless we win the lottery...) which usually means you do have to bottom out, but as you point out we likely have enough skill on the roster to avoid that.
So you're left in no-man's land waiting some insane draft luck at around pick #15
