Pretty happy with that game. The amazing thing is that at 5v5 the sharks had the better expected goals advantage (1.51 v 1.37).

Thought Walman had one of his worst games to be honest. He’s making some ‘default’ plays the other Sharks tend to do which leads to turnovers. Only stood out because the rest of his play this season has been great.

A real big issue with the D is there complete lack of awareness of what’s going on around them. Thrun, in particular, doesn’t some really dumb things. Before taking his high sticking penalty, he made a nice fake to make space on the forechecker - but then sent the puck to where he faked to. Why? Then there is the weird chip over the blue line with the goalie pulled that is just frustratingly bad.

Not sure what Warsofsky was thinking moving Dellandrea from the third line in favour of Kunin. Seems like he was bored and just wanted the change.

But on a positive note - Eklund and Granlund really are a pair of studs. So f***ing good.

The Sharks played well tonight. Dallas is a better team, but I'm not upset at this effort. I'm upset at the Refs for missing obvious calls and just being in the way. I remember when I first came to these boards and we had a member who was basically our Ref guy. He would say what the refs excelled at and if they skated well or not. I have to wonder if these refs in the NHL these days are just out of shape. They are getting hit a lot more than usual. Maybe the speed of the game is faster, but the Refs need to adapt even to speed as well.
I want to know what your definition of playing well is? Relative to our talent? For sure. Actually playing well? Lol. These refs sucked though ain't gonna lie.

Relative to our talent. The game was close until the empty netters. Dallas is one of the best teams in the league and the Sharks stayed with them for most of the night.

I can’t believe I forgot about Johnston, I wanted to pick Benn also not that it would’ve mattered. Congrats! Are you going for back to backs again?
I'm never actually TRYING to get it wrong, lol, it's just guessing, we'll see how it goes

I mean, yeah, of course, I take this very seriously, lol

I continue in general to pretty impressed with Liljegren. Hes been an excellent pick up.

This team is still bad, but they absolutely play hard and are at the very least competitive. So much more enjoyable to watch than last season.

Same. Liljegren seems to be getting better and more confident with every game too, I’ve really liked what I see from him.

If you squint a little, you can kinda see the beginning of a capable D-corp. at least one that’s night and day better than last year. If we could put Ferraro on the 3rd pairing, bring Muhk up, I think things will start looking even better.

Walman and Liljegren are well and truly ahead of everyone else in the lineup and definitely make the team better. Thompson should be playing - he was been great and the most consistent aside from Walman and Liljegren.

Mukh still needs reps with the Cuda. No need to rush him up when he is still getting his legs and head in the game following injury prior to the season. Let him get the minutes in for the Cuda. Ferraro and Rutta should be rotating scratches - could add Ceci and Thrun there too.

He’s my favorite Sharks player. Ever. Once he wore green, I was done.

I couldn't root against Pavs, cheered for him til retirement, happy to be back hating the Stars but I'm kinda shocked at you both. (@slocal)

Unrelated as Pavs was to this game/opponent, why's he catching strays?

It wasn't like Hertl asking out & going to the worst possible soul-less destination. I'll defend Pavelski to my last breath.

On topic of the game, officiating was guff, wasn't expecting to beat Dal but we don't get crushed being behind which is refreshing. The new era Sharks show desire to win, fire in the belly, all the signs you want to see from the kids along with increasing flashes of brilliance.

Smith & Celly sharing ice time is still sphincter clenching at times but it's giving us glimpses of what looks to develop into legitimate scoring chances once they hit that level of familiarity together.

It’s your assumption that I root against him. I ultimately cheer for the team on the front of the jersey not the players on the back. Even when my favorite player ( Pavs) Goes to another team, I’ll pay attention, but I don’t cheer them on. One may find that odd, he is my all-time favorite shark, I am a fan of the team first and foremost.

I can see that, wasn't rooting for Pavs over the Sharks, just surprised to see him being besmirched, thought he was universally loved by the Teal, regardless of where he ended his career. I'd put him on the mount Rushmore of Shark alumni personally.

Well, this chapter is admittedly at an end, much like Pavs himself, time to focus on another team we can all love to hate, here's hoping Celly force feeds the Blues some vulcanised lunch.

*Unsheaths stick like a sword* to the current GDT!

Besmirched? Maybe go over the posts again to see what was said. That's just a blatant misrepresentation.

Not rooting for someone ≠ rooting against them.
