I'm excited, but not getting carried away. I remember game 4 last year and the camera panned the Habs bench and they looked absolutely DEFEATED. It was all over their faces... and we know how that went.

So keep the petal to the medal, the forecheck and the battle have to continue. I don't believe the Lightning are as bad as they looked last night, there will be challenges but we CAN DO IT!

Of the many impressive elements in that win, to me the most impressive was how relentless they were on the puck. They gave TB no time and space and constantly created turnovers with their tenacity, speed, and physicality. It's not easy to maintain that, but they'll have to in order get another W in Game 2.

the structure was fantastic. everytime when tampa had a PP i saw three leafs standing tall in a row on the blue line which made it extremely difficult for tampa to enter the zone.

Once they were in the zone, they were kept on the perimeter, their only chance being Stamkos missing that open net.

It will only get tougher moving forward.

The boys showed what they are capable of, now they have to maintain that intensity and work ethic against a much more motivated opponent.

Agree 100%. HUGE game!

Indeed, it won't be easy at all.

I'm assuming that other than Bunting playing if he can (and I'm assuming it will be in place of Clifford) we will play the same guys. It better be that way because if Holl is in for Liljegren, I'm going to lose my mind before the game even starts.
I don't buy into it will show if the Leafs have learned anything.

Tampa is no slouch team and have been through this many times. They have lost Game 1 three out of the past eight series.

Tampa will come out guns a blazing. Maroon and Perry will try to disturb the flow and the Leafs will need to stay disciplined and focused.

If Tampa scores early then it will be a sign if they pack it in.

I think we will see a close hard faught game that is a coinflip.

The other side of this is if Tamp comes out flying and the Leafs handle it and win then Tampa is in serious trouble.

How they play in Game 2 will be a true tell tale sign if they've learned anything from their past series failures.

How they play in the series clinching game will be that.

Up until than it is shift after shift, period after period. Nothing matters, just focus on the next thing. The moment they think they can win this will be the moment they lose it.

What we saw yesterday was amazing but won't really matter until they close the series. We have all seen enough in the previous years I guess.

Not sure who that is but if they need someone to explain to them that Tampa will be better tomorrow they probably aren't worth following.

Tomorrow's game is huge. Leafs win and they are in great shape, lose and Tampa now has the advantage.

Winning this game and going up 2-0 will be great for sure, but if I’m Tampa I know their not in trouble until they lose at home. The leafs just need to take it 1 game at a time.

So what you are really saying is...

since they won all 3 of those series
(each one a 32% chance to win a 7 game NHL series once down 1-0)

What percentage of game 1 winners win the series NHL?

Teams that win Game 1 are 499-228 (68.8 percent) winning a best-of-7 NHL playoff series, including 6-2 in the first round last season.

that then means the odds of them doing it for the fourth time in a row would be
(0.32 X 0.32 X 0.32 X 0.32)

which is 0.01048576

1%.

If they play their ass off then IMO it will be a sign of maturity, win or lose.

Lets wait to see how the leafs respond when they face some adversity, which is bound to happen at some point this series.

I counted 5-6 times that the lightening players cross checked or took runs at Brodie behind the play. Kucherov got called, but most of is undetected.

I think Tampa’s strategy is to go at him because they (correctly) think he is our best defenseman.

I wish the Leafs would do the same to Point who is obviously not 100%, and without him Tampa is thin at an important position.

I think I have to agree with you
TBH, I'm not even that worried about maturity or whatever else at this point. They just played so amazing last night, there's just no way that this team is not the real deal. Goaltending is the biggest uncertainty but then, goaltending is almost always the biggest uncertainty anyway so ...

They need to stay angry. Complacency kills
I think I'd say intense and focused instead of angry but whatever. Let's just say that they need to stay whatever the opposite of complacent is and we'll be good.

As thrilled as I am by the play of M&M, I think I might be happiest about is our D. Keefe rolled out the exact pairings I (and I'm sure many others) was hoping for and damned if that's not a fine looking lineup. That 6 man unit has to be one of the best in the NHL and when Sandin is healthy, the same goes for our 7/8 Dmen.

This is a lineup that can do some serious damage!

I finally got a lucky jersey, stole it from my Dad for this playoffs
He bought one of the Matthews jerseys with a fighting strap and it's only seen 2 games was at the game for Matthews 59 + 60 goals and a Campbell shutout
and now been worn for yesterdays game
I must do everything I did yesterday now including not opening my water bottle
