Forward JEFF CARTER said:
(On where his line’s increased production is coming from) … “I don’t know. We’re playing well as a line and [have been] winning a lot of puck battles lately. Richie’s doing a great job of finding me. Lewie’s doing a great job of getting on pucks in the forecheck and turning them over for us. I’m just kind of hanging out in the slot, and it’s been working.” (On Trevor Lewis’ success on the left side of the line) … “He’s been working real hard for us. Even when he wasn’t scoring, he was getting opportunities and creating chances. When you’re doing that, it’s just a matter of time before the puck’s going to go in the net.” (On the importance of getting an early goal considering the team’s occasional sluggishness in home day games) … “[The Kopitar line] did a great job of starting it off for us. I think their first four or five shifts, they were all over them there in their zone. When you see that, the team just kind of feeds off it. It’s not easy coming home after a big road trip, and playing an afternoon game at home sometimes you come out a little slow. But we did a great job of coming out hard, winning battles and kind of putting ‘em back on their heels.” (On whether the team is gaining momentum) … “Yeah. I think this was a pretty solid game for us. It’s nice for us to get more than two or thre goals. That’s a plus. I think things have started to come around. It’s still a work in progress.” (On the importance of taking advantage of the home-heavy schedule) … “It’s huge. It’s arguably the biggest stretch of the season. When you get a stretch like this at home, you really have to take advantage of it. We’ve only played 16, 17 games, but we’re running out of time here. There aren’t many games left. We’ve got to get down to it."
Forward JARRETT STOLL said:
(On whether the Detroit game represented a turning point) … “Maybe. We knew we played a good game in Detroit. There were just some breakdowns there, little detailed things in our game [that] we had to clean up. Even tonight, there were some detail mistakes that we’ve got to clean up. But we came out and had a great first period. I thought Kopi’s line was really good in the first. Even Carts and Rick and Lewis had a great first period. Just building off that, just staying with it – I think the confidence in the room has gotten a lot better amongst our team. Definitely there’s a different feeling in here from the first eight or nine games.” (On whether he’s surprised that a championship team would deal with confidence issues) … “Confidence is a funny thing. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what kind of team you have, whether you’ve won or lost. Sometimes you’ve got an eight or nine-game winning streak and you lose one, and all of a sudden your confidence dips pretty much a lot. It’s one of those things that’s funny. You’ve got to just work hard to keep it. Once you have it you’ve just got to roll with it and try to play well with it and get as many wins as you can.” (On whether he’s excited for another chance against Anaheim) … “Yeah, for sure. We lost two points against them. Same kind of thing against Colorado at the start of the year – we lost two against them, also. It’s Anaheim, also. It’s a rivalry, obviously, and we want to come out. It’s a home game, too, so we’ve got to keep playing well and keep trying to get points here at home. We’ve got a lot of home games. Everybody knows that. We’ve got to try and bank these points and continue to get points. Just keep pushing, keep pushing, keep trying to win games.” (On his block that led to Trevor Lewis’ shorthanded goal) … “They made some good passes, some good plays, and I…had to try and get to the lane somehow. Desperation – maybe got a little lucky – but Lewie did a great job of getting down the ice and putting it away.” (On where the puck hit him) … “I don’t even know. Shin pads or thigh. I don’t know.” (On whether he’s a player who needs to record points to maintain his confidence) … “Yeah, I’m kind of in the same boat. You’ve got to play well on both sides of the puck and make some good reads, make some good decisions, good plays out of your zone, good plays in their zone. If you’re getting some chances, getting some shots, I think that adds to your confidence. There are certainly guys on a team that maybe need points or need goals or whatnot to get their confidence going and to have confidence. Yeah, I would agree with that. It’s one of those things everybody has a role on the team. Me and Lewie have similar roles, I think, on the team. We’ve got to clean up some PK work, some PK detail and try to chip in when we can offensively. Confidence is a funny thing, like I said. It comes and goes. When you have it, you’ve got to try to keep it.” (On whether Dustin Penner is a player who needs points to maintain his confidence) … “I don’t know. You’ve got to ask him that. I don’t know. When he’s moving his feet and when he’s skating with the puck and holding guys off and using his big body to his advantage, I think that’s his game.” (On the trend of keeping the opponents’ scores low) … “Our goaltending has been good. We’ve given up maybe too many pretty good scoring chances, grade-A chances there. Quickie had to make some big saves again today. You need that. You need your goaltending. We’ve just got to clean up some defensive zone stuff. We’ve done a good job as five-man groups all over the ice, making sure we’re supporting our defensemen and defensemen making sure they’re supporting us.” (On whether the third period of the Chicago game was a turning point) … “Before that, probably. We played a very good game in St. Louis and in Detroit. I think those two games right there – those are tough buildings. Those are tough back-to-back, and we did a great job. We obviously lost a tough one in Detroit, but I think it just got our team a different kind of confidence that we didn’t have this year so far. Our goaltending’s been great of late, so we’ve just keep trying to get points.”
Goaltender JONATHAN QUICK said:
(On winning despite injuries to the defense) … “We’ve still got six guys out there. It’s not like we’re playing with four. We’re playing with six.” (On whether he has noticed increasing momentum) … “Yeah, obviously when you win games, the confidence goes up as a team. You start playing instead of over-thinking things, you’re just doing it more naturally. And I think guys have been doing that. It’s always good to get rewarded with a few wins when you’re doing it well.” (On the “critical” stretch of upcoming games on home ice) … “Any stretch is critical. Pick three games, three consecutive games anywhere in the schedule. They’re going to be important games. We’re just going one game at a time, and we’re focused on Monday night now. It’s all about recovering and getting ready for Monday night.” (On whether he’s shaken off “rust” from earlier in the season) … “I don’t know if I would say ‘rust’…You don’t make a couple saves that you think you should, and then you get a couple bad bounces, and the next thing you know, everyone thinks you’re playing terrible. The goalie coach and I have been doing a lot of work and just kind of sticking with it. We haven’t changed anything. We’re just doing the same thing. We’ve been playing great. I’ve been getting a lot of help. It’s definitely helped. It’s good to get rewarded with a couple wins.” [/B](On whether he has noticed improvement since the first home game) [/B] … “Since then we’ve played some good hockey. We’ve had a game here and there where you’d like to [have] played a little bit better, but I think we’ve played good hockey since then. It’s not like it’s just this past week or two that we’ve been playing well. We’ve been playing good hockey.” [/B](On playing with unmatched gear and not going with the vintage color scheme) [/B] … “With the lockout, you don’t have much time to break in your gear. I’d rather go with equipment that didn’t match the jerseys that I’m comfortable in than kind of rush myself into equipment that does match the jersey."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER said:
"We played the fewest home games in the league, It hasn't really been an easy schedule and I looked at it again. We play three at home and then we go [away] for one. If you break that out again, we're playing three teams we haven't beat yet. If you knock out the first two games of the year, we'd be looking pretty good … in the big picture. We've been able to handle everything very well. That's been the best part about our team. I've liked the way they've handled the extra attention that's come with it."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER said:
"There’s only a rivalry if both teams are fighting for the same playoff spot. One team had a tough year last year. One team was trying to make the playoffs. I’m not into that rivalry stuff unless they’re two top teams that are battling for a spot. I mean, everybody talked about that in Edmonton and Calgary. Well Calgary’s captain lived in Edmonton. Edmonton’s captain lived in Calgary. I don’t think there was a rivalry. I mean, they all golfed together. So you figure this rivalry out. See what you make out of it off the ice."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

As long as we're above the Sharks, don't give a ****. But beating these losers would be nice.

I'm getting off work early so my fiancé and I can drive up to LA and see the game live (best Valentine's Day ever!)

I hope I get to see them play well live. They're like 7-3 when I see them.

I consider this my birthday still because the GDT was made on the 24th, if we dont win IMA be so mad.

Lets make this a very violent and fun game.

I can't wait for the puck to drop and if the Kings continue to play as well as they have, aggressive on the forecheck, dominating, they'll be fine.

I would love for them to come out and put up 2 in the first period, get a lot of quality shots on goal and then go on a duck hunt, shooting them down one at a time.

I think they will win and will dominate most of the game, have a feeling the second line will have a great game tonight. Lewis and Richards creataing havoc behind the net. Richards digging the puck out in the corner with 2 ducks on him and threading that needle to Jeff 'all I do is score' Carter= GOAL

Our Kings are playing well and the hated Ducks have been playing well the whole season. This is going to be a tough test for us. The thing is I like some of the Ducks players but I cannot stand Hayward! Go Kings Go.

By the way I lost a beloved aunt and the funeral service was yesterday. Such a selfless person she was. Her life story is was so touching that it made this old guy cry like a baby. RIP Bachan, I will always remember your smile.:(

I really want a violent game, I really want something to really ignite this rivalry, am I alone on this?

Big game. Time to sow the seeds of doubt into the minds of these pretenders.

This is the biggest game of the season for multiple reasons. And no I am not being hyperbolic. I understand that every game, especially in a shortened season are important but this game is the single biggest game of the season for this team. I'll tell you why since you asked.

1. The kings are tied for least games played in the league with 16. The ducks have also played only 16.

2. Lets take a look at the standings in chorus with GIH (games in hand)

WC

4. Blues: 22 pts. 2 GIH
5. Wings: 21 pts. 3 GIH
6. Preds: 21 pts. 3 GIH*
7. Gups: 19 pts. 1 GIH
8. Stars: 19 pts. 2 GIH*
9. Yotes: 19 pts. 2 GHI
10. Kings: 18 pts. *

* play today

(really speaks volumes)

3. The measuring stick game. The ducks are playing great hockey this year and Fasth is playing out of his mind. This is the epitome of measuring stick game to say the least. You win this game and it could be seen as the game that changed the path of both teams.

Last 10: ANA 9-1-0*. LA 6-4-0
*ducks have won 6 straight and come from behind in each game.

4. IMHO this is the beginning of the rivalry the way it should be.
