The NHL has an even better replay and you can see cooks leg drive down into Karlsson with purpose.

This - plus you can hear him scream in pain at the hit.

This sucks. This really, really sucks. No words to describe how much this sucks.

If something like this was going to happen, better this year when the team really was a long shot to go far.

Now the kids can get plenty of ice time gaining value experience and just possibly the Sens might get a top draft pick as well.

Hopefully EK recovers completely and Spezza and Cowen are healthy to start next season.

It was never going to work with Alfredsson and Karlsson

This could be the wakeup call Melnyk needs to blow up the team, there's no point being mediocre year after year

Dave Gross is maybe not the best guy to be doing the post game show.

So, last year? With Karlsson and Anderson, we're easily a top-4 or -5 team in the East this year. The timing of this, plus the Spezza injury, is just brutal. Worst case scenario.

The team over achieved last year and had virtually no serious/long term injuries to key personnel. Add to that a great year by Anderson and a Norris Trophy performance by EK.

This year the team lost Cowen and Lundin prior to the start of the season and were forced to start the year with 3 AHL D.

Up front they has two guys (Latendresse & Regin) who had hardly played in two years and a rookie slated to start in the top six.

Then the injury to Spezza and the other prospects forced into action due to injuries, only the most optimistic fan would have believed this team was playoff bound.

To this long list the loss of Karlsson is crippling IMO.

You may see it otherwise, that's fine.

While I agree that the team overachieved last year, this year was NOT immediately a write-off. Check the standings.

No need to check the standing, check the schedule.

The Sens haven't played any top teams yet, unless you consider Tampa and Pittsburgh as top teams and the Sens are 0-3 against them.

Even with the schedule to date, several of those wins were all Anderson surely you didn't expect him to have a .950+ SA% over a 48 game schedule.

That's a fair point. Andy's stats are unsustainable, for sure. But we'll have to agree to disagree RE: not a playoff team. We beat the teams we needed to beat up to this point.

Erik and Andy were carrying this team so I can't imagine us getting anywhere this season. Watching Karlsson get injured was actually sickening. But mostly because I fear for his career than anything else. As long as he can come back 100%, who cares about this season?

I wonder how Murray is going to handle this. This is pretty devastating to the franchise as a whole, especially in terms of selling tickets.
