These hated rivals GDTs can sure get personal, even if the Habs haven't been in a position to muster the type of opposition we have grown accustomed to, over the years, for reasons we all know too well.
Over in their netherlands, we are referred to as "Poutineville". Well then, "Beantown", do you really want to go there?
This is "Boston's Best"? Beans from a can?
In that case, let's find out how well Boston's beans stack up against Montreal's poutine, shall we? We're going to duke it out in a poll.
How personal does the rivalry get? Let's just say that their fans on this site don't hold back on their animosity, which makes for entertaining banter. Even their mods get into it hardcore.
Spicing things up a notch is how the Bruins decided to bring back Milan Lucic. He's not the same player he used to be, obviously, but that only applies on ice. His off ice behavior has had him involved in several confrontations with the authorities, over the years. This one was noteworthy:
"According to a police report of the incident, the Bruins [team stats] left winger was “highly intoxicated and hostile” after he and his galpal argued outside a Starbucks on Commercial Street shortly before 1:30 a.m.
Witnesses told police the 6-foot-4, 220-pound hockey player was yelling at his girlfriend, who was on the ground, and at one point threw her shoes and purse at her.
"After several minutes of answering questions, drunk Milan Lucic had had enough, and allegedly spiked his cell phone on the ground and shouted “Do you know who I am!?” at the officers. That’s when the officers asked for Lucic’s identification, presumably just to piss him off."
Yup, Lucic became that guy. Throwing shoes at his girlfriend? Who does he think he is, Michkov?
Such heartwarming nostalgia.
And of course, with Lucic, the jokes just write themselves. Who can forget how he and his wife wrote an anti-bullying children's book.
Regardless, Lucic will be a no-show for tonight's game as instead of injuring others, he is himself injured.
Which brings us back to those beloved Bruins fans ...
Poke the bear?
Habs are coming off yet another overtime win. Seems that it's mostly how they get the job done this season.
Goal Caufield sealed the deal on Thursday against the Wings in an away game.
Everybody seems to love Cole.
Here are your bullet point highlights from last game, courtesy of the Habs' PR Dept.:
Meantime, rumors are continuing to swirl about how some teams are feeling the heat and may be primed to trade. Hughes will be at the ready, since he has some redundancy to deal but it doesn't look that he's in a hurry.
However, since Black Friday will soon be upon us, Hughes is discretely putting some names out there.
Last but not least, a special thought as this is Rememberance Day.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.”
LINEUPS:
A Bruins nostalgia-crapfest thread would be incomplete without the best known member of the Habsburg clan, making a cameo. For Bruins fans' viewing pleasure, the man salutes you and your darling Lucic, in a classic forum ad.
And of course, we couldn't possibly leave out our beloved original.
