Kap's officially become my favorite Pen. It used to be Hornqvist. Gonna order a jersey.

If he plays like this next year 5v5 and he becomes a mainstay on PP1, you're looking at an 80 point player.
It's like regular season Phil Kessel who isn't a defensive black hole at 3.2 mil.

We gave up the 15th overall pick and Filip Hallander to get him. Wow.

If I'm Hextall I'm extending him this summer before everyone catches on. Could probably get 5 mil AAV.

Thank God he's RFA at the end. Even if you account for regression, we've struck pay dirt here.

Disagree. Win this and all you need is for Caps to lose one more point or fail to win in regulation at any point over their final 5 games. At that point we control our destiny for 1st place.

They have a higher likelihood of slipping up than us. Rangers x 2 in their building is no cakewalk. Plus as you mentioned they got Boston.

We have Flyers x 2 and then Sabres x2. The exact 2 teams you want right now, since Jersey is playing better lately.

But that's all based on the assumption that Boston finishes ahead of NYI, which is hardly a guarantee.

If we lose tonight, the best course of action is to fall to 4th and draw Washington. Nobody apart from us is catching Washington's RWs, so I can't see the Isles or Boston finishing 1st anymore.
The only problem is Boston would highly likely take out the Isles in a series, and would be waiting for us in Round 2. So you don't escape them in the end.

That's why we need to win tonight.

Hardly find it a coincidence that he's likely to return at the 5 games remaining mark. It was planned.

I stopped wishing for the Pens to avoid certain teams after they got my most favorable draw last year and got smoked anyway.

We're in the playoffs, and we're going to be facing a tough opponent right away no matter what. The most important thing is getting the team playing like they did the first game against Boston and incorporating Malkin's talent into that with minimal disruption.

Are we first on pucks, managing it well, and playing structured hockey, or are we just out for a skate on the pond and throwing passes within 10 feet of players and praying for the best?

If Malkin's knee doesn't limit him, he gets enough games to get his timing back and he at least gets Kap on his line this team could get pretty scary pretty quick.

I agree with Soggy that I guess I just don't care about potential matchups outside of entertainment value, of which Boston has zero.
