"The first period, you’ve got to get those nerves out. I think any time you’re an older guy and you’ve been out of the lineup, you kind of have to start over from scratch. I wanted to be able to bring more than just a fourth line mentality. I was kind of up and down in the first and then I settled in in the second and third. It felt be good to be able to make strides during the game, and I want to continue to do that, hopefully, in the next game. There’s no trick to my game when you’re my size. It’s when you get the puck, first off, you have to get the puck, and then you hold on to it and then have patience, because I should be able to use my size against anybody outside of Zdeno Chara. You know, that one would prove a formidable foe for me. It’s just getting confidence with the puck and holding on to it. When you play with Stoll and Lewis, they have a way of dragging you with them. You watch those guys skate, and the way they play, it helps me. I think everybody, though, as a whole, played really well tonight. It’s a nice feeling as a veteran guy seeing the young guys the way they’re playing, and knowing that we can interchange pretty much anybody for any position. We took a step in the right direction. It’s a tough break {Alec Martinez’s injury} It happens. But yeah, you have to give one of the stars of the game to the five D, because any time you lose a player early, they’re going to log a lot of minutes. The other team, you know their coaches tell them to lean on the five guys that are left, maybe make it four. It’s a great job by our five D-men."

I played over 15 games, so that was good for me, I think. I guess that’s my game, probably. Maybe I look not stressed, but sometimes inside, you know? Yeah, awesome. You know, I thought last night in Detroit we deserved at least a point, and I was really happy with their performance. They worked really hard and it paid off. I was just trying to stay focused. I think that’s how it’s been all year. I think last year we were giving up a lot of shots, but from the outside. This year, just on and off. We’ve just got to….find a way to stay sharp and come out with the save that we need to. It is a big relief. I knew I had to come out big – not only for myself, but for the team. For us right now, we’re working really hard, and it just seems like it doesn’t go away and I was really happy that we worked hard and it really showed tonight for two points."

I hope not. He's done nothing to warrant any boos whatsoever. He never complained, signed his own discount, long term, deal, and did everything asked of him. It wasn't his choice to leave LA. He played well for us. He should be cheered. Played over 300 games for us. I'd even put together a little send off video during a whistle or intermission.

Some news just announced by the Blue Jackets: they have named three assistant captains to start the 2012-13 NHL season.

Derek Dorsett, Jack Johnson and RJ Umberger are the three players to wear "A"s when the team takes the ice tomorrow night against the Nashville Predators. Blue Jackets head coach Todd Richards has said throughout Training Camp presented by OhioHealth that the team has no timetable on naming a full-time captain; rather, he prefers to let leadership rise from the dressing room and let the next captain be the perfect fit.

Johnson, 26, came to Columbus via trade from the Los Angeles Kings last February and instantly made himself at home with the Blue Jackets. He fit like a glove both on the ice and in the locker room, and was immediately logging top-four minutes on the blue line for Richards. He wore the "A" during his time in Los Angeles and was one of the team's young leaders, and has scored at least 35 points in three consecutive seasons.

What the hell is up with that? Sure, he may have been a locker room leader, but he never wore an 'A' for LA, did he?
