If they want to much and way more than that, there's more than few Nashville's out there that will build paper tiger teams that can't gel.

No. Dubois equals Vilardi, Iafallo, Kupari, and a second. Kuemper equals Dubois, so LA should be able to get Vilardi+ for Kuemper or Vilardi straight up for Rittich. It's math.

I think he likes it in Winnipeg, he’s treated pretty well by the team and loved by the fans. First line usage with a clear role and great line mates, PP1 time, and he’s breaking out. Chevy will do everything to keep him around long term. He’s definitely worth 8-9 million, I can see him (and hopefully Ehlers) signing the Scheifele contract.

Is it just me, or does Gabe's skating look much improved this season as well? It looks to me like he's really worked on it and is able to keep up with the play better and not be gassed after 25 seconds.

He'll never be a burner, but he looks a fair bit better imo

For what its worth he mentioned in an article a month or so ago that he's "found a home" on the top line with Scheifele and Connor. Said he was never really given the chance/saw himself as a top line forward until now. Sounds like he's happy. I think he stays long term.

Whatever happened to Dubois seems to have happened in LA. I doubt there are many complaints about him in Washington.

Not a Kings fan but agree -- has some unique skills, including what have to be some of the quickest hands in tight in the league -- and seems like a guy who works at his game and cares about his teammates.

Has been notably using his size and strength to retrieve and shield the puck effectively on the cycle and is a deft, sure and creative passer also.

Not many players can keep up with Connor in full stride but GV has great vision and a strong positional game. He's an absolute pleasure to watch, and if WPG can hang onto him, they should.

No comment on the trade. Good to see some of the young talent starting to thrive on the Kings -- have always enjoyed the team, and the deep hockey knowledge and generosity (and, of course, unrestrained Blakeroasting) in my occasional visits to the HF Kings board.

I work at a car dealership in Winnipeg and he does some promotional stuff with us so he was here a couple weeks back with his girlfriend. Nice people. She's apparently some type of social media influencer is what i heard, or atleast has a fair sized following online. Seemed down to earth and was friendly. Hope she likes it here so Gabe sticks around!

One year from UFA? Cap projected to jump for the next 3 years means 9 AAV isn't crazy.

8 year contract too due to injury history. Has to cash in. Bonus heavy too to prevent buyout after possible injury later in career.

If not, he'll go UFA to a team where the GM isn't worried about years 5-7.

Feel like he needs to sign his big ticket this year because of his past injury issues which puts Winnipeg in a good position. Believe he still has 2 years from UFA after this year. Even if his GF doesn't want to be in WPG, putting ~50 million in front of him would take some balls to turn down.
