I'm a little excited about the potential of this guy. I always liked his game when the Jets played the Kings. He could turn out to be the best player in the trade (including PLD) if he develops some chemistry with some of the skill on this team.

Friesen doing his best to ambush the new guy and try to indoctrinate Gabe by getting him up to speed on team dysfunction history lesson before he meets his first teammate................welcome to Winnipeg :help:

Ya it's pretty wack. An article about a new player, but half the article is talking about random stuff that's happened the past two years. And not even hockey stuff, but stupid interview drama.

Really like this pick up by Jets. Vilardi is just starting to scratch the surface of what he could become. I’d love him to play C with a creative player like Connor or Perfetti on his wing. Add a solid, aggressive forecheck guy like Iafallo or Nino and that’s a pretty solid line.

No need to talk about Friesen. Not worth the time or effort.

Players know what's going on around the league. I'm sure he was advised by the team PR people not to take any bait thrown his way.

Honestly, I think some of you should limit your "media" coverage to Mitchell Clinton and Jamie Thomas on JetsTV. You seem to get a little bent out of shape when reporters do some shit disturbing. This team needs its shit disturbed. If I'll fault Friesen on anything, it will be for not asking if his SoCal beach babe is still in the picture.

He's from Kingston

His girlfriend isn't. Also, I doubt he's interested in living in a place like Kingston at this point in his life.

I think people need to stop using "He's from random Canadian small town" as some sort of argument why someone might enjoy Winnipeg. People from all walks of life move to bigger locations all the time to "escape" their small home town.

Well if he is gone in 3 years at least we get some mileage out of him.

Yes we would, and I've been critical of ignoring the actual seasons the players play here when evaluating whether we get something out of an asset or not, but if the goal is to build a longer term core via hockey trades, that quote isn't a great start.

Not saying you're wrong... but I'd be careful about assuming an individual's thoughts or future plans based off what they say to the media.

Just my own opinion, of course. That's usually not the type of comment you'd hope to hear from the centerpiece of the big offseason trade that shipped out a player who publicly said he didn't want to be here.
