Excuses for his poor play will not be tolerated. The organization probably agreed to call it an "injury" to save a high-priced vet the indignity of the healthy scratch.

Wonder if this has been the issue? Would explain why we are not seeing that burst of speed we seen last yr and early on this yr. Hate to see anyone injured, so I hope he heals quickly.

That said, this means more ice time for Chaput! He really has played is arse off since he has been here.

so who is going to miss him, he hasn't done anything lately

I think he will be missed. No, he certainly has not performed as we had hoped, but he's probably the only player they put on the ice that attracts the attention of the opposition. Every coach knows that he might go off, if his team loses focus on him. Gaborik is the kind of player who busts out of slumps in a big way. That threat is gone, now, and that will have an impact.

Well they said it happened at the end of the game last night, so it wasnt a nagging issue causing his slump which would have been better news so to speak. He'll certainly be missed in that it just takes everyone up a spot to face tougher D

I run a Blue Jackets franchise in NHL 14 Be A Gm, and I can assure you, this is a huge loss for the BJs. So sorry to hear about this, guys.

Thanks for letting us know...

Gaborik hasn't been a difference maker lately, but maybe there was something going on with the knee beforehand. This could actually wake the team up and hopefully they play more like the aggressive, hard-working team they were before Gaborik came here. (Not saying that he's why we haven't carried over momentum) but it might set a fire under a few guys looking to take his spot.

Agree, Pete. While I have been disappointed in his play and production, his skill set cannot be denied as it's frankly measurably higher than any of our other forwards.

Say what you want about Gaborik's play lately, but I think just having him around, drawing the opposing team's top matchups is a big reason for Johansen's early season success.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Johansen had his quietest game in awhile tonight.
