I've been waiting to make this thread for a while.

Just wanted to get the board to weigh in on predictions and expectations for the NYR's two big guns. Obviously line combos will affect this but with Torts that's a toss up at this point.

We've been debating this since last Winter when the Nash rumors surfaced. Let's see where we stand.

Gaborik: 43 gp, 24 goals, 21 assists, 45 points
Nash: 48 gp, 22 goals, 20 assists, 42 points

I think we will see 25 goals from both of them. Nash will be a star for the Rangers.

Well Gabby will likely play with Stepan and Nash likely with Richards and they should play together on the first PP unit............gonna be fun to watch!:handclap:

30 goals for Gaborik in a 48 game season.

Around 25 for Nash.

Because I think Nash will line up with Richards, and Gaborik may line up with Stepan a lot, I will give Nash the edge in points.

So you guys think Gaborik and Nash are both going to score almost every single game? Step down on the expectations a little.

Gaborik had 30 goals through 48 games in 09-10.

He also scored 30 in 48 in 06-07.

a 40 goal output for Nash would translate to 25 goals in a 48 game season.

Its not that unreasonable.

If by score you mean get a point, then absolutely, yes. Gaborik always gets off to hot starts, and a hot start means everything in such a shortened season.

As for Nash, I expect him to be a force this year with Stepan and Kreider.

Nash: 27
Gaborik: 30

_________

Kreider:15
Callahan: 19
Richards:16
Stepan:12
Hagelin:11
Boyle:9
Pyatt:9
Asham:2
Rupp:2
Halpern:3

This comes out to 3.23 Goals/game, sounds about right. Slightly lower rate than what Pitt scored at last year, would have been good for 2nd in the NHL.

EDIT: Nvm, this doesn't include defensemen. Numbers are probably much too high in that case.

I like the total number of goals though, so to get to same total including defensemen:

Gaborik: 23
Nash: 25

Kreider:13
Callahan: 17
Richards:12
Stepan:12
Hagelin:10
Boyle:8
Pyatt:5
Asham:2
Rupp:2
Halpern:3

Del Zotto: 9
McDonagh: 6
Girardi: 3
Staal: 3
Stralman: 2
Bickel: 1

That's a lot from Del Z and McD.

Yeah, for some reason I thought DZ had 15ish goals last year but he only had 10. Oh well, I'll stick with my predictions and hope for a Karlsson esque year from DZ :naughty:

I do think McDonagh can get 6 though. That projects to about 11 in a full season.

Gabby will get more goals, Nash more points since odds are Nash will play with B.R. and Gabby will play with Stepan.

Assuming he stays healthy, Gabby will have more goals/points. Knowing the system and the players better gives him the upper hand here

48-50 games, as a team you'd like to see us get about 150 goals. With a solid Henrik in net that should provide us with, if lucky close to 30 wins.

Between Gaborik and Nash i'd like to get 50 of those goals. Richards, Callahan, Stepan, and Kreider should combine for another 50. That leaves 50 goals for the bottom 6 and the defense to get.

Try to get 20 goals from Hagelin, Boyle, and Pyatt together, another 10 from Asham, Halpern, and Rupp together, and a scattered 20 from the defense.

never thought I'd be doing this again

Gaborik: 23
Nash: 19

Kreider:16
Callahan: 14
Richards:14
Stepan:11

Boyle:4

So no one is concerned that Gabby's shoulder is messed up like it was in 10-11? That's my biggest fear. That his shoulder won't be back to anywhere near full strength.

He's had more than enough time to recoup. He would have been coming back around this time had the season started on time.

If Gabby and Sauer are back and healthy, this team will do tons of damage.
