Son of minor league goalie Jon Hillebrandt (a Rangers' draft pick), he played three games for the Colts in his draft year, playing Jr. C hockey.
Made a big jump this year splitting time with 20-year-old Ben West in Barrie and being selected to the USA U20 team as a third goalie behind Augustine and Fowler.
Played his best hockey in the OHL playoffs; cutting nearly a goal off his GAA and raising his save percentage.
