Kid's been on fire in the O, he played very well for us in camp and they locked him up immediately. Kinda odd seeing as he just went undrafted, he had a good season last year aswell but i guess the sample size wasn't there.

In any case he has a .927% in 13 games so far and Owen's roster looks relatively weak, I haven't been able to catch any of his games so I can't comment on his playstyle.

Was surprised he went undrafted too, I quite liked what I saw from him last year but lots of good goalies gets passed over each year. Good on Montreal for getting him signed, looks like they got a pretty decent prospect for free.

Wonder why nobody took the 7th round chance on him. Carey Price, see ya later

He had a bad top prospects game and then didn't do well in Owen Sound the rest of the year. I think he should have been drafted though, I knew he would bounce back.

I saw a lot of him watching Bigras last year. Very athletic, a gamer. He outright stole games in the first half of the season.

I didn't see the game vs Erie, but I saw him play against London and he got pulled in that one after the 2nd (wasn't sure if it had to do with the stick to the head he got as he was down for a bit). I thought he was really good in that game as London was all over OS, he gave up 4 but a few weren't his fault at all. The good news is he should see a lot of pucks this year and next before going to the AHL. This is the best depth the Habs have had in net that I can recall, now if they could only get Hawkey some starts at Providence to see what he can do.

Watched him today vs Flint, he was the 1st star of the game. Stopped 32 of 33 to get his 8th win of the season which puts him in a tie for most wins in the OHL.

Crazy we are over 14 months since an update in this thread.

He is pretty much dominating the OHL. Tops in GAA and save percentage by a solid margin in both categories.

McNiven has really worked himself up to challenge Wells, Brodeur, and Dhillon for top goalie in the OHL. During this 10-game win streak McNiven started 7 games and in those 7 games he posted 7 Quality Starts so that's a 1.000 QS% in this win streak for McNiven. Also in this 10-game win streak McNiven has only allowed more than one goal in a game once. Truly impressive.

To put his general numbers into context McNiven is now sitting in 3rd in the OHL for raw GSAA with a 22.430 GSAA behind Wells and Dhillon. McNiven has a 0.724 QS% which is 3rd among OHL starters behind Wells and Brodeur. He's also one of the best Bounce Back goalies in the OHL. McNiven has posted a Quality Start after every one of his three bad starts along with a 0.954 SV% in Bounce Back situations which is 3rd in the OHL behind Julian Sime and Scott Smith.

If McNiven keeps this up I can see him taking the CHL Goalie of the Year award as he's the hottest goalie in the CHL right now.

Thats all great - but 'quality starts' is a ******** made up stat. Just use GAA and SV%.

I'm laughing at using raw SV% because you can't skew QS% the way you can raw SV%. If you think McNiven is having a better season than Wells based on SV% than I don't know what to say.

Nope i I wouldnt say that. I also wouldnt provide a write up on a player with not not even one qualitative hint about how they are playing

IE how they are playing when you actually watch them? You know....providing actual insight? Not just no-context advanced stats

what a season McNiven is having. Since 12-9-16 he has lost just 2 games in regulation going 23-2-3 over that span. Leads the OHL in gaa and wins, tied for the lead in SO's. Only once this season did he lose back to back games. Going to be interesting to see how he does in the playoffs and the AHL next year.

Can someone give me an update on his potential, just saw his stats from this year and its really good. Does he have a NHL potential
