Let 5 in against the Americans, pump the brakes he's going nowhere
On 41 shot though. Still 0.929 svs% with 98 shots faced in less than 24 hours against two best teams of the tournament. Takes a lot less to be selected in 6th round. Next oponents are far less likely to spoil his stats than previous ones, and if Latvia ends up in the quarters, my bet is he gets drafted.

An NHL team will use a 7th round pick on him if he keeps this level of play up for the entire tournament.

If he doesn't get drafted, it won't be due to his average height. His movements are a little slow (especially side-to-side) and it feels like the NHL goalie pendulum is starting to swing back in favour of athletic goalies instead of blocking goalies.

That Buium got was pathetic. He didn't even give himself a chance to stop the shot. Was on his way down to his ground before Buium shot the puck, and Buium just patiently took his time to let him hit the ground and then put it in when he was all the way out of the play.

Can't be doing that. Have to give yourself a chance to make saves. Can't be flopping all over the place.

Might be why he's in his 19 year old year in the Q and has a SV% starting with an 8.

Anything under 6’4” is undersized for a goalie nowadays.
I too love the facts I make up but 42% of the goalies drafted this year (10/24) were the same size or smaller than Feldbergs' 6’2”. Not even going to go into the 6’4” thing which is completely ridiculous.

Sure, he is not the size that will score him any additional points, but you just threw out a random blanket statement.

Yeah it's fine if that poster wants to double down on their opinion that he isn't draft worthy. But it's painfully obvious they thought he was actually smaller based on their initial comment, and are now weirdly deflecting rather than just having the humility to admit that minor error. It would have infinitely more reasonable to just say oops I thought he was a bit smaller than that but I still don't see him as a draft caliber prospect. When one finds oneself making statements they know are untrue (anything under 6'4 is considered undersized) to try and back up a previous claim that has been dismissed, one looks way worse than just admitting they were slightly wrong in the first place. It was a pretty small thing to be wrong about, pun intended.

I was amazed he was able to play he did yesterday. Will know more about him after the next games.

Those 24h he was insane.

Look at successful goalies in the NHL. All are taller than this kid who had a once in a lifetime game save maybe Saros. That’s all he is. One game wonder.

One game, or even a good tournament, is not likely to make a difference. Similar things have happened with guys like Benjamin Conz and Denis Godla (among others), and neither of them were drafted.

Absolutely. I think what this will give is perhaps some will pay a bit more closer attention to him in the Q, but he will have to carry his success to the club to be considered for a draft.

Gustafson is 6’2

Dostal is 6’2

Saros is tiny

Sheshterkin is 6’1

This guy is very un likely to even be drafted, but saying you need to be 6’4 is just blatantly wrong.

I'll add a few more:

Bobrovsky - 6"2, two vezinas and a cup win.
Gustavsson - 6"2, posting one of the best sv% in the NHL this year.
Quick - 6"1, 800 NHL games, 2 cups, a Conn Smyth, back to back good seasons as a backup.
M-A Fleury - 6"2 over 1000 games, 3 cups and a vezina.
Binnington - 6"2, not having a good season but posted .913 last year, and carried a team to a cup win.
Wolf - 6"0 and could challenge with the calder. Firmly confirming as the starter in Calgary.
Ingram - 6"1, big step back due to personal circumstances with the death of his mom but posted back to back .907 SV% seasons.
Lindgren - 6"2, posted an amazing season last year, and still a top half backup.
Lankinen - 6"2, emerged as a starter for Vancouver this year after 2 solid seasons in Nashville.
Gibson - 6"2, look I don't think he's all that, but he's played almost 500 games in the league and is quietly posting a .909 sv% in league-wide low in sv%

Size doesn't matter if the goaltending is sound positionally, and has good athleticism.

That being said, the sample size is small, and Feldbergs seems to be slightly slow when it comes to lateral movements.

Conz and Godla were a decade ago. And did not play junior in North America. Just this past draft Nashville selected Cape Breton"s Jakub Milota.
