Was surprised to see a thread for Mbereko was never created even though he played goalie for the USA in the two most recent WJC's; then noticed he is a 2003 and thus still eligible for the 2023 NHL Draft.

A workhorse for CC as a freshman, he seemed to bounce back from an uneven WJC.

Given the seeming lack of goaltending prospects, does a team take a late round shot and select him?

To short. I dont see any team that would draft him but if he continues to play well in college for the next couple years I can see him getting a contract

They shouldn't. This was the first season he's ever had decent stats and he still had performances like the WJC that will give teams pause, not to mention his size. At his size you likely need to dominate to interest NHL teams. If he can build on his season and repeat it multiple times maybe he gets looks as a UFA.

Heard some great things over the summer about his work habits and the Tigers are one of the surprises stories at the start of the college season; with Mbereko playing every game to this point.

Any updates from those who have watched him play?

I am a CC fan by heart and he's been the team's MVP for the past two seasons easily. I still worry about size in the pros, but if Dustin Tokarski made it as a long-term depth goaler, I don't see why Mbereko can't either.
