Currently leads the OHL in Sv% and GAA for all goalies who have played more than one game, and is still 18 until April.

The Knights look to be a good team, are they inflating his numbers at all or Kooy playing up what the numbers say?

He also lead the OHL in Sv% as a 16 year old in the 2016-2017 season (only across 11 games, but impressive nonetheless). I remember reading GigantorTheGoalie say he was really impressed with Kooy's play. What lead him to be ranked and drafted so low?

Kooy really struggled in the early portion of last year and didn't play a lot because he shares the net with Raaymakers.

He really is an excellent goalie and should have been taken much earlier in the draft.

how to I make a pun using his name
He seems like a Kooy guy
that was awful I should just give up at trying to be funny when in reality it’s not even funny.

But yeah he seems like a solid rookie goaltender prospect, he probably could end up developing into a possible Fluery replacement. Goalies are weird though, never know what to expect.

Pretty much this. That poor start to the season plus getting very little ice time behind Raaymakers. Once he got back into net for the 2nd half of the season he solidified himself as a legitimate draft prospect. He's pretty much on the Matthew Villalta development path and he just keeps getting better. He's a legitimate contender to be the starter for Canada at the 2020 WJC. I'm really curious to see what would happen if he was given the starters position because right now he's only had 9 starts and in those 9 starts he's sitting 6th in OHL Goals Saved Above Average. You have to drop to 15th in GSAA to find a goalie who has less than 10 starts like Kooy.

His GSAA/30 shots is 1.231 which makes him the only goalie with a start in the OHL to have a GSAA/30 above 1.000. He's also sitting at a 0.889 QS% which means there's only been one game this year where he hasn't given his team the best statistical chance to win. His numbers would drop but he has such a cushion that if he was given starting minutes and his numbers dropped he'd still be in the running for OHL Goalie of the Year with DiPietro, Keyser, Luukkonen who are all goalies in their 19yo season.

Has yet to sign with the Knights and played for three teams this season - finishing the year with Oshawa. Seemed to find his game late in the year after struggling and missing some time due to injury before the season was shut down.

If he is not signed by the Knights, what are the odds of another team drafting him in what is seen as a deep draft for goalies?
