Couldn't find a thread here about him. Guess i'll have to roll out the hype wagon myself. :dunno:

Profile and Stats.

Came across some film of him that has me awfully intrigued. Big goalie listed at 6'3", looks to have some good athleticism, lateral mobility, quickness, and a generally calm and efficient manner in the net. The thing that stands out most to me, is the surprisingly refined technical ability for a HS netminder. Strong, efficient, and controlled movements, a seemingly strong understanding of angles and rebound control that you don't typically see in HS goaltenders. Seems to track pucks pretty well, even in traffic and shows an ability to freelance beyond the technical foundation when necessary. Fairly confident puckhandler.

Not entirely surprising that the technical proficiency is at a higher than expected level i guess, considering he seems to have some bloodlines as the son of a Minor Pro goaltender of a number of years, who it seems now runs a goaltending school as best i can decipher?

Of course, drafting a goaltender out of HS is a fairly terrifying proposition. Obviously the quality of competition and shooters is lower than elsewhere. Hard to get a bead on how he reads plays when the structure in the hockey is so loose, but does show really good anticipation at times.

Here's a little "highlight reel" sample, that i initially came across.

There's a lot more to be found if you're curious and dig around a bit, including some full game isos, etc.

To be honest, one of the biggest things that struck me with this kid, is how eerily he reminds me of a young Cory Schneider in his play. More than just the number on the back of the jersey, i find the similarity in style kind of freaky tbh.

So where do people see this prospect going in the draft? It's awfully hard to get a read on where teams might be looking at him. It's a huge risk out of HS, but there are some things there that i like as much as any of the other netminders in this draft. My gut says anything from 3 round on...Any other thoughts or insights?

he has an awesome upside but this is the first year people really got to see him regularly at that level of hockey (for Cushing) and he doesn't seem to have a lot of hype right now. I would be surprised if he goes but I do think he could end up in the AHL or beyond at some point. Him and Jeremy Brodeur from Shattuck-St. Mary's are on a similar tier and Jeremy just signed in the OHL. Their goaltending school is pretty well-visited by goalies at high tiers of hockey including, ironically Cory Schneider. The nice thing is he does have a pretty solid ceiling and with a dad who definitely knows a thing or two about goalies you can safely assume he's probably going to get better...

There were rumours he was going to join the Sea Dogs last year as a 16 yrs old.

Yeah, from what i gather, there's some likelihood that he's headed there for next season? Would be an interesting route if that's where he does go.

It would be good for him. The Dogs are looking to get back to their glory of the past. They are building quite the young core with Highmore, Noel, Smallman, McFalls, Tessier, the Green twins, Leblanc, Chabot and Thompson. All bluechippers.

With Auger being an overager, it would be good to have a young guy of Daccord's caliber to backstop this team in the future. They could reach a very high level and it would be good exposure for Daccord.

Committed to Arizona State earlier today

The team will probably be awful whereas Saint John has a ton of young talent and is losing their starting goalie next year, he should go there or another College but it's his choice.

Maybe, but by joining a brand-new Division I program, there are also potential benefits from an individual development standpoint. As Cushing coach Rob Gagnon said in this article, "he's going to see an awful lot of shots those first couple of years." http://alongtheboards.com/2015/06/2015-nhl-draft-asu-recruit-joey-daccord-devil-rise/

Anyone watch this kid play in the ice Vegas tourney this weekend? Absolutely stud. He looks as calm as can be and I’ve rarely seen a goalie his age handle the puck the way he did. Too bad he’s stuck in Arizona State, because he’s a gem whose numbers are being dragged down by his team.

Tough injury today, hope it’s not too serious. He’s looked like the best of the Sens goalies this year (small sample size, I know). He looks like a legit nhler, makes you wonder how Ottawa will manage the expansion draft in regards to goalies. Not a great chance that they’d take Murray, so maybe protecting Daccord is the move?

Hopefully he's not out long term. Very good puck handler, very calm in net and always battling to make the extra save. He's always square to the shooter and looks like a vet in net. Not too much movement, very efficient.

I'm guessing a lot depends on how the season ends and all but I would protect him personally over Murray. I don't think it'll happen because of the commitment the team made with Murray, but I doubt ge would get picked up. Daccord might not get picked up either but I think they would consider it at the very least. A Murray/Daccord combo could work well for Ottawa as they get better in the next few years.

This guy has a future in the NHL.

When I watched him play against the Oilers, he is fairly poised in the net for a young goalie, and handles the puck real well.

Hopefully he recovers fast and can get back in there where he left off.
