Was tracking some Red Wing prospects, and this kid caught my eye.

Huge kid (6'6") with one of the best SV% in the SuperElit who was very young for this last draft (09/03/2000), so I think he may have a good shot at getting drafted for this upcoming draft.

Watched him last year and was curious why he didn't get drafted. A 6'6 goalie that uses his size well, moves well, and can play the puck.

Wonder if it's a matter of small sample sizes turning scouts off? Fellow Swedish goalie Adam Åhman put up good numbers for his age last year in only three SHL games, but is killing it in Allsvenkan right now.

I saw him a handful of times last season. Wasn't a fan at all. Poor technique, scrambly, didn't track the puck well. Seemed to save shots because of his size rather than his actual goaltending ability.

Perhaps he has gotten better since then, I don't know, but I definitely wasn't a fan of him and would not have used a draft pick on him in the 2018 draft either.

God, I hope this kid makes it!!!

The announcers nailed it

He lacks focus after the first save.
He's making some amazing first saves, then is like. I'm good.

This is a perfect example of why it was stupid for anyone to give up a draft pick for Portillo. He can have masterful performances, but just to often his gaping holes (terrible feet, lack of athleticism) are exposed. Maybe he gets proper coaching and his physical advantages can shine through and his shortcomings can be fixed, but so many goalies in the league now are great athletes and he is just a slug between the pipes. If he were 6’3 instead of 6’6 he isn’t seen as a legit prospect.

His movements and laziness in the crease reminds me of Jason Labarbera.

yeah he just moves like he has lead feet.

I’d like to see what he can do when the defense in front of him isn’t lead by Luke Hughes…who is allergic to defense

Portillo sure was a lot better when those minutes went to Owen Power.

Stop. He gave up three horrific goals tonight that he is singularly responsible for. Very few Wolverines had respectable games tonight but Portillo was the clear weak link tonight.

Rough night and rough way for Mich season to end. Great year for such a young team.

Erik should come back for his senior season...he is not pro level yet.
