15yo goalie plays in the WHL. He started 2 games so far in this season, and got his first WHL win (a 32sv shootout) tonight.

If that CSSHL can start producing goalies like they have outskaters, the Canadian goalie drought will be solved in no time

Hitmen released Ethan Buenaventura, 20yo goalie. Looks like they think Tu can handle the pressure and be the starter in the WHL as a 16yo player
Tu is clearly very good for a kid not draft eligible for two more years. He's crazy talented and the Hitmen are gonna give him every chance to run with this opportunity. Having said that I still think this move is more about Buenaventura being a waste of an overager slot. The Hitmen would have released him anyway. I'm surprised they kept him all those years when he was never remotely adequate.

CHL had a lot of great goalies recently, just need time to grow up.
Well for Eric, I'm not sure if Eric's nationality is Canadian now, but from what I've heard, it seems he was born in China.

Where did you hear that? Elite prospects says he's born in Surrey.

Lots of Asian immigrants living here lol. Many different cultures and ethnicities playing hockey.

Anyways, not every day you see a 15 (just turned 16) be the no. 1 goalie in the DUB. He's one to watch for 2027, big kid at 6'3, 200 already.

I heard this from a Chinese media staff when we were talking about Kevin He last season, and he mentioned Eric’s situation. I can’t guarantee that our information is 100% accurate, but the EP or CHL profile pages for players born overseas are sometimes inaccurate.
I remember that before the media began reporting that Kevin was born in Beijing last year, no one had listed Beijing as his birthplace. Almost all kids who entered the CHL in the bantam draft had their "hometown" registered as a Canadian city.
But yeah, no matter where he birthplace is, he is a fun prospect to watch.

Just saw the Hitmen/Tigers game. Not the best game he had, he got pulled for letting in 4 in 12 shots. Can't really blame as the Tigers are a top team.

First impression is that he has impressive size. He made one great save but looked a bit weak in the five hole. He isn't that fast moving side to side. But at 16, there's a ton of time to address weaknesses.

Yeah. He kinda came down to earth after a red hot start. He'll have to make adjustments but I agree he's still young and will be fine. Definitely a kid with lots of upside
