Already standing at 6 foot 2 (187 cm) at 15 years old, Finnish goalie Emil Vinni is jumping up the juniors team and playing really well. Last year he was playing for HIFK's U16, U18 and U20's team. In 13 games for HIFK U18, he had a GAA of 2 and a save percentage of a very impressive .934%

This year, it looks like he will rotate between the U18 and U20 team, where he could be a backup behind Koskenvuo.

2024 is still 3 years away, but he is looking like one of more promising Finnish goalies for the next couple of years, in a similar group with Lukkarinen and Vali.

Surprised there's no discussion on him, although HFBoards never loves it's goalies in comparison to its skaters sadly. Vinni just got promoted to HIFK's senior team as a backup recently. Been killing it in both the U18s and U20s so him getting minutes in the senior level eventually isn't crazy. Definitely the goalie with the best chance imo of going in the first round in the next 3/4 years.

Some good goalies coming out of Finland, Vinni, Vali, Rimpinen. Not a bad group for the next few years.

He's only with HIFK's senior team, because Michael Garteig got hurt for the rest of the season - but it's a great learning experience for him, if nothing else.

He's been good all tournament.

I think we have to throw every game against Canada out for the other nations.

Trying to judge the few good players against a veritable super team is pretty unfair. They'll never face a team with such utter imbalance on their own team again.

I don't think he even was that bad vs Canada. Obviously, goal 2 was a terrible one to give up but other than that, he even made some quality saves.

Very good performance in this tournament. Looks very composed, makes quick reads, and he’s good side to side. I haven’t seen all the goalies yet from the 2024 draft, but there usually wouldn’t be very many than he looks to be. Should have a good chance to be on the highest picked goalies in 2024.

.919 SV% and 1.60 GAA thru 3 games so far.

HIFK has some talented 06s on their U20 team.

Vinni's stats were bad this season. He was good at Hlinka but bad at U18s. Can he be considered a top goalie prospect anymore?

The fact he has a .897% in Mestis is a miracle. One of the worst defenses I've seen in a pro game with all honesty. His backup has a .847%. Vinni would almost surely be over .900% somewhere else. Still arguably the best goalie in this class and the only one I'm comfortable taking in the first 2 rounds (except maybe Kim Saarinen)

Jokipojat is 8th in the league though. How bad is the rest of league if they have the worst defense.

I've only seen a few games of his, but their defense stood out as uncoordinated at best. The fact his Backup has a way lower sv% tells me that doesn't seem wrong. How they're not one of the worst teams in GA stuns me.
