G Carter George - Owen Sound Attack, OHL (2024, 57th, LAK)

Cool that he was a Kings fan growing up, played minor hockey with the Thunder Bay Kings, and now drafted by the Los Angeles Kings.
We need to put him on the boat next, so he can be the King of the world!

Nice to see him get a goalie goal on Friday. Decent D+1 on a bad Owen Sound team
He's been an absolute rock and has only had a couple of bad games all season - impressive given the number of shots, and the quality of chances, the Attack give up on a nightly basis. More of the same as last year.

Despite the numbers I'd say a lot of OHL followers would consider him the best goalie in the league this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up finishing the World Juniors this year as Canada's starter, if he doesn't outright start the tournament in net.

The big worry for him is going to be workload, as he burnt out having to play every game and make 40+ saves a night last season and while Koprowski should start more than last year's backup, George is still going to be close to 50 starts.

George has been elite since the start of February, putting up a .935 sv%. He's helped Owen Sound claw their way into the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Not a single game with a sub .900 sv% in this stretch despite playing great teams like Barrie, Kingston, and Windsor.

This weekend could be quite challenging with the Attack facing London on Friday and Kitchener on Saturday

Yeah he's still the best goalie in the OHL, numbers be damned. That Owen Sound team is baaaaad. Without him I don't know if they get to 15 wins on the season.

He's been incredible, the best goalie we've ever had especially at 18. Just his sizzle reel from Sunday's game in the Soo should be enough to convince people about how good he is.

His only real weakness at the moment for this level is that he both wants to play and ends up playing too much, so there are weekends where you can tell the fatigue is catching up with him.

Don’t be surprised to see him move to Windsor next season

Based on? There's been no indication that George wants a move or that he's available.

The Attack are far more likely to trade Koprowski and Bennett (if the latter wants to play OHL next season) and roll George and a rookie again. Plus the price especially for a Conference opponent like Windsor would be astronomical.

The Attack want to be competitive so short of him actually requesting a trade, they aren't moving the best goalie in the league.

I bet you they will. Owen Sound isn’t going to be competitive next year. They are 2 years out.

Owen Sound won’t compete next year, and it’ll be George’s last season in junior. It’s the junior cycle, if you’re not in a competitive window, you move out the players that are graduating so when you do compete, you have assets to make a splash at the deadline. They would have moved him this year but no one was willing to meet their asking price. Windsor has a cupboard of young, desirable players and a need for a goalie. They discussed it at the past deadline but the only player that Windsor could move was Belchetz being that he was the only 16 year old first round pick on the roster. They were obviously unwilling to do that. In the off season, Lemieux, Hicks, Windbiel and Garden can be moved since they’re going into their 17 years old seasons, it’ll likely be one of those guys and a load of picks going to Owen Sound.

Nothings guaranteed, but that’s the rumour right now.

Everyone's assuming that Owen Sound will act in a way to maximize their assets but lots of history to suggest that isn't the case. If the team is out of it next deadline, then certainly I could see it, but DeGray was on record in January as saying he wasn't shopping George and it would have taken a Belchetz level return to change his mind.

There's been 0 whispering about any George move on the Owen Sound side so no idea where this information is coming from - likely Windsor because they have a clear need for a high end goalie. The only way it makes sense is if Trenton Bennett commits to the team full-time next season and the return is astronomical. I fully expect George to be the Game 1 starter next season.

It also wouldn't be the first time that the Attack have held onto a popular star player to see how far they can go. There are market-specific forces (particularly an ownership group that covets playoff dates) that make it just as likely George finishes his career in Owen Sound than somewhere else.
