G - Arno Tiefensee - Adler Mannheim, DE, (2023, 157th, DAL)

German goalie born in 2002 so he is eligible for the 2023 NHL Draft.

I don't pay much attention to the DEL and would generally discount forwards or defensemen at his age. However, saw Tiefensee mentioned in a post by @BrockOtten.

Tiefensee, and not veteran Felix Bruckmann, handled the bulk of the goaltending for Mannheim in the DEL playoffs.

Given the playoff success of Akira Schmid anything to see here?

He handled the bulk of the goaltending because Brückmann is made of glass.

He came in in relief and played quite admirably though, and put himself back on the radars of NHL teams. He’s a very raw goalie but stands at 6’4” which seems to be in the Goldilocks zone of goalies nowadays.

A good project I think, seems to have more or less everything that top goalies are made of these days. Just needs a plan to get there over the next 4-5 years.

I even slowed it down, doesn't look like the shot hit him.....might've grazed off the knob of his stick I guess, hard to tell lol

At like 5-6 second there's a wierd thump noise where i'm pretty sure his blocker or stick gets hit . He also makes moves it to make the save and then the puck goes flying into the boards. Pretty sure it hit him

For what it's worth, one of the goaltending instructors in our district played in the DEL and is very familiar with Tiefensee. He said his play was particularly impressive during the playoffs.

Much like with Jatkola from Finland - and a few others in recent years - with the nature of the position there is some merit in taking goaltenders that have passed through the draft. Even those who may have done so multiple times.

Once again started for Mannheim (including all seven playoff games) and is in Germany's camp for the World Championships. Any word on an ELC from the Stars?

No idea. If the Stars decide to let Murray walk they could use another goalie prospect on the AHL team. If he still has a contract with Adler for next season i think Stars would also be fine to let him play another year with them.
