Pierre Engvall has been playing lights out in recent games and has put together his best play since joining the club … his positioning down to the 4th line was a great move by the coach and Pierre has played terrific .
He can now be rotated in the bottom 6 with confidence and also play on the PK …
Good for Pierre he has earned it .
I hope it continues, as it would be a huge bonus for us to have a solid 4th line that can score with size …
Go Leafs Go

Excellent game tonight, full 60 mins played tonight and it was an ass kicking. If all 4 lines can get going at playoff time, team has the ability to do some damage. All depends if the goaltending and defense holds up.

Feels good man. Beyond the Big guns, I like that Bunting and Mikey have been rolling, and the support players have been really solid lately. Gotta get Nylander and Tavares some cookies after the break.

It would be the best. People will be hating on us more. The Evgenyi Nabokov Calder lol. I love it, Even though he's 26 he's been a top rookie this year. Go Bunting!
I don't think he should win over guys like Raymond, Zegras, Lundell, Sieder. Really silly he is even eligible.

How great were all those players ….
How incredible was Sittler .. wow he was real good in every sense of a leader and a warrior..
Could do it all and really could throw em as well
Kennedy
Keon
Sittler
Salming
Bower

Phenomenal game all around, dominated them from start to end. Matthews/Marner are absolutely stomping the opposition.

Not trolling but Severson is one of the worst d-men I've ever seen. This guy is like Gardiner/Barrie horrific defensively. It's crazy that he was apparently this high end prospect at one point. The guy just can't play hockey for the life of him.

Anyways great way to head off to the all star break, no complaints from this fan. Soup looked strong and everyone played well. Need JT and Willy to get going but great job.

Really solid game.
The commentator kept calling the Leafs winning in the forecheck and creating chances.
Is NJ bad or Leafs just really good.
Really hope is the Leafs being good and can do that in the playoffs.

I think a couple factors play into why:

1.) Other players have stepped up. For instance, with JT/Willy's struggles we've seen Matthews and Marner hit another level. Guys like Engvall and Mikheyev are providing depth production as well to compensate
2.) Good special teams. Even with Soup struggling we're not getting burned on the PK. Marner's impact here cannot be understated, he's absolutely elite and even generates offense on the kill
3.) The Leafs can turn it "on" in a dramatic way. We'll be trash for 40 minutes but the last 20 we can light the lamp in a way only a few other teams can (Colorado/FLA/TB)

Essentially, this team is finding ways to win even when they aren't on their A game. A very good sign, but I hope we clean it up a bit as we ramp up to the postseason
to me the big difference so far this year compared o past years has 100% been special teams, we havent had a PK this good in a lonnnnnng time. in the post season good special teams is so important(especially a great PK imo)

It's not. It's hit first season in the NHL just like Raymond etc.
He just turned 26 after the cutoff date, I get he is technically a rookie, but the age limit should be lower. Not to mention he played 26 game already over 2 seasons. Had Bunting played 1 more game in 2018-2019 season he would have been ineligible....and had he been borne 2 days earlier he would also have become ineligible...lol. So no it's not remotely the same as Raymond. If I am voting that would weigh heavily on my decision. Just like games played for McDavid was too low to get him the Calder, even though he was the best rookie that year - no disrespect to a 25 year old Panarin.

Ferocious forechecking, dazzling defence and great goaltending.
