Kings Vision: FS West - Prospect Profile - Valentin Zykov

Gatineau lost tonight to Rimouski and after 2 rounds, are out of the playoffs....
so, that's it for Valentine Zykov's junior career. I am sure he'll be on a plane
tomorrow to Manch.

The Kings are about to have 4 'near future' Kings go pro in 1 week!
Lintuniemi, Kempe Brodzinski, and Zykov. Impressive.

Hope he makes an immediate impact! For those of you that are somewhat disappointed in his drop in offensive production, he started putting the puck in the
net a lot more, since being traded to Gatineau.

On to Manchester.

For those that have seen him, how physical is his play? Are we talking the early years of Dustin Brown, or a slightly more physical Tanner Pearson?

Thats quite exciting for Kings fans, hopefully they're not too many years away from the big show.

how great is it going to be to have them in ontario next year, wish the move was made last year i would be tailgating at CBA right now

And North Dakota defenseman Paul LaDue will apparently make a decision by next week, to sign a contract or go back for his Jr season. He is highly touted and ranked just behind Forbort and Miller on the D prospect rankings. Like that he is RH shot too.

With all the D prospects emerging and seemingly somewhat more bare in the forward
prospect cupboard, the additions of Brodzinski, Kempe (and soon) and Zykov,
to the AHL, bode well for the forward crop. Dowd, Mersch and Auger had first
(full) good seasons in the AHL. As did Shore. Though none of them project as stars, the can be looked upon as having taken the next step and have a possible future in LA.

I hope Zykov gets to Manch and gets in a game. They say Brodzinki was cleared to play this weekend as well.

I am hoping that LaDue goes back for his JR year. For me it is a timing thing. One more season in that system could also help build a better foundation for his overall game. If he decides to go pro then that is good too but I would rather he waited one more year.

I saw him play in the rookie tourney in Phoenix last year, so it was a small sample. I would characterize his play then as a little reckless, not afraid to go to the front of the net. He scored a goal from the side of the net against Phoenix. He was also a penalty magnet, not in a good way. Trying too hard I think. I would say not necessarily a big hitter, more of reckless abandon. He will need to play more under control to play in the NHL. You don't want to take away his aggressive edge, but he will need to still play smart.

Just my observation in a small sample.

Zykov Had A Groin Injury This Year!

Like to see the Monarchs play these 4(Zykov,Kempe,Brodzinski,Lintuniemi) in the play-offs. They bring alot of firepower and Lintuniemi brings some nice beef!!!
