Pre-sale started today for STHs.

I'll be going like always but am wondering how different it will be this year with the game moved to T-Mobile. I'm mainly wondering if the Kings are still going to use MGM as the base of operations or if they will stay somewhere else since the game is no longer at MGM.

I booked rooms at Vdara instead of Signature for a change of pace and due to the location of the game moving. Always great to go in the lazy river at MGM though on game day and party with all the Kings fans.

If any posters here are going and have this as an annual trip: what are you expecting this year? Is the MGM pool still going to be the place or will we all be spread out this year in an effort to be even closer to T-Mobile?

Definitely going to miss being able to walk back to my room at intermission to refill my whiskey. Will also miss being able to walk out the arena to the Nathan's Famous to get all kinds of junk food and bring it right back to the seat. I mean...they let you bring outside containers in. Highly doubt that will fly at a legit arena.

My best post-Frozen Fury memory was treating myself to a nice meal at Craftsteak and having Drew Doughty, Trevor Lewis, and their family/friends be seated right next to us.

I haven't missed a year since 2003. The last five years or so the group I go with has grown to 100+. Most of the people I go with stay at the Desert Rose resort which is behind Hooters. I'm staying there again this year. In the past we've gone to the MGM pool on (Saturday) game day. I honestly wasn't a huge fan of the two games in the past but I've already bought tickets for both games, booked my flight and prepaid my room so I'll be there Thursday-Monday.

I don't think I'll really change anything about what I do except make a much longer walk to the new Arena. Definitely going to be a bummer about not being able to smuggle booze in. Not sure why you went to your room to refill whiskey. I just filled a water bottle full and never had an issue. Well, except the time when I drank the whole thing before I went into the arena and passed out immediately after the game! I literally fell asleep sitting up right in a chair on the balcony of my suite.

What the ****.

And here I was thinking we were doing it right packing a suite with 8

There's definitely going to be some charm missing without the submarine buzzer and the mall gauntlet.

It was funny, the same gauntlet was there for the NHL Awards show last year. I accidentally ended up backstage and took the private escalator to leave. There was still a sizable gauntlet of fans waiting for autographs. I should have taken a photo of the numerous "Who the hell is this guy" faces of people trying to figure out if I was somebody famous.

First time I went was 2005, probably a couple dozen in our group. But one by one, guys got married and/or had kids. Last time I went in 2013, I went solo but ran into a buddy at the game.

A few years ago I tried to plan a charter bus from LA area to Vegas but since everyone is coming and going on different days and times, it never came together. It would be a lot of fun if anyone ever organized something like that.

The back story of my group:

We went in 2003 with four of us. The year following the lock out i think about ten of us went. Then it just started snowballing with friend of friends starting to go. I know a lot of people that have become hockey fans and Kings fans because of that game. It's a pretty big event for my oval of friends and acquaintances.

Xi haven't been there yet ;) but from what I have read,
There are a couple of way to get to the Arena from NYny.
There is a bridge from the parking garage to the arena. I think a lot of people will use that to avoid the sun.
Cut through the parking structure to a covered bridge.
There is also an area called " The Park". This is a quasi LA live area. It is next to NYny so you don't have to go through the hotel. There are food and booze places there. So that may replace the food court.

Different memory but I'm sure others were there in 2001 right after Sept 11th. Kind of a surreal scene, Vegas was pretty empty, I don't remember the game being all that crowded either. I like the 2 game format though, keeps me busy and away from the money losing machines. If you can leave on Monday, did that last year and just a much better experience.

I remember that game as well. Very empty and so was Vegas, probably the most empty I've ever seen LV.

Southwest out of Long Beach for the weekend of Frozen Fury:

$78 round trip, thank you very much.

One ticket to one of the games cost more than the entire flight.

That's a great price especially for Fri/Sun. I already booked with Jet Blue miles but I'd be reluctant to get on a Southwest flight again after their debacle the past few days. I spent 9 hours at the Oakland airport yesterday and finally ended up in LA which took another 1.5 hours to get home from.

It is a TH/M but they had that price for every day of the weekend.

Booking earlier this week with a split between SW/JB for the cheapest fares would of been $210 a person so I'm willing to risk Southwest having their **** together by then!

Much prefer Jet Blue but $78 round trip too good to pass up. Vdara for $800 for four nights out-the-door isn't too shabby either.

Tickets this year are the most overpriced item now that they moved to T-Mobile Arena.

Got my tickets through lgk last year but it looks like the prices are the same. It was about $100 each last year and they are $192 for both games this year. Looking at press releases tickets started at $42 last year and $36 this year.

Oh definitely, I'm generally a fan of SW. I know some aren't. What happened last week was an anomaly and probably could happen to any airline. It was just fresh in my head when I saw that. They hooked me up with $200 flight credit and this was after them sending me a 50% off my next flight coupon. That makes it right as faras I'm concerned

Jet Blue is my favorite airline. By far the most space for coach seats, free WiFi and TV. Can't beat that. I'd much rather have saved my points and forked out the $80 for SW. Thanks for the heads up, though! I was able to get my gf a free flight (Fri/Sun) since she had enough points from SW to do that. It was like 1600 points a leg which is really good.

When I talk about the pricing, it is more along the lines of the $42 last year being a better seat (unless in the obstructed area) than the $36 this year just due to the sheer size difference between the two arenas.

I can no longer walk to my room during intermission to refill my drink and then buy large amounts of bacon cheese fries and dogs from Nathan's Famous and bring it in to the arena. Probably won't be allowed to bring any outside drinks in T-Mobile.

It's going to lose some of its charm being in a legit building which, as a STH, kind of sucks since it will most likely be just like attending a game at Staples which I already do 40 times a year. I'll just make sure to hydrate to the point that it doesn't matter!

Didn't you cover all these ultra-classy habits in your first post?

Didn't you cover all these ultra-classy habits in your first post?

1 - Vegas is ultra-synonymous with "class". You really got me on that one.

2 - Didn't read my post from a while back but you make a ultra-good point. We should have a moderator go through and prune any post where a poster states something they have stated before. Should be able to get the Board down to maybe 2 or 3 pages so your precious bandwidth can be saved.

3 - Fantastic contribution. Glad you could make an appearance this Summer with a needless drive-by post.

4 - Hope to see you out in Vegas now that Frozen Fury has been classed up. Let's plan on meeting on the concourse during the 1st intermission and compare the thread count in our tuxedos. Let me know which game you are wearing your tux though: I'll be going with both games, of course so it doesn't matter to me.

Cool, we can do a couple shots from the bottle I smuggle in on my kids stroller.

That's what I'm talking about: you could of just walked into the MGM Arena with your kid carrying the shots for you and nobody would have blinked. Now you have to smuggle them in on your kid's stroller.

Sad state of affairs.

I didn't bother to go back to my room to get more whiskey. I just brought a water bottle full of it in with me.

We'll see how the new arena goes but I'm going to miss the MGM and the whole scene around it. The size of the arena and all of it's quirks are what made it a great venue. I don't know how long it's been since they had the hot tub in the corner but I always thought that was a nice touch.
