I've been waiting for this article since yesterday. Always have to root for the players like Weal that scrap their way to success. He does his homework reviewing video, and has for awhile. I remembered him mentioning that in an earlier interview so I went back to the one from last summer, the one with audio. It's fun to revisit old player interviews of yours, Gann, and follow the progress of the prospects.

I'd like to see Jordan Weal impress this season, though with it (potentially) being his first NHL action, I am not expecting a lot yet. Looking forward to part 2 of your interview.

Would've published it on Thursday, but I'm taking a certification course, and by the time I got home from class, I was a little too tired to finish transcribing the Weal interview and then write the first story.

nice to read. wonder if weal will get ice time with the kings. hope so but it's hard to say with sutter...

Well, the good thing is that if Weal gets ice time, it will be because he's impressed Sutter with his play. I think Sutter's reputation for limiting rookies is overblown, he's no different than any other coach. If any player does exactly what he wants and produces, he doesn't care how old you are, you are gonna see the ice.

Young guys just tend to make more positional mistakes and everything isn't on autopilot yet as far as knowing exactly what to do.

I really hope Weal performs. If he could take over and succeed in a third-line center role, that would be incredible. Some notable centers under six feet tall: Tyler Johnson, Tyler Ennis, Derek Roy, Jiri Hudler, Claude Giroux, Mikhail Grabovski, Joe Pavelski, Pavel Datsyuk, Mike Richards, Tomas Plekanec, Matt Duchene, and... Sidney Crosby.

It's not so much that he limits ice time. It's that there's very little positive reinforcement from him. He generally relies on tearing them down...big, as motivation. Really into negative reinforcement in a big, big way.

Lucky for us then that Weal of all kids seems to thrive on that challenge. I think Sutter is gonna pummel him, but they're both going to love it. Little doubt in my mind anymore that Weal is gonna be an NHLer.

Having Weal Makes Loss Of Williams Barable!

Have been pulling for Jordan Weal to make the Kings since they drafted him in 2010!With his speed alone Weal can make things happen offensively and be a defensive stalwart!!!Good Luck to Jordan

He's going to be just as good as Tyler Gaudreau or Johnny Johnson, Mike Giroux or Claude Gallagher.

Heck, he might even be another Hakan Cournoyer or Yvon Loob.

These guys are so small, I can't see them that well, and I tend to confuse them somewhat.
