Where is this 20 million in cap space we have if we don’t bring anyone back? Am I doing something wrong here? That’s not how that works, the guys that are ufa still have salaries to come off the books, if you don’t bring back the guys listed that’s 20m in cap to move around
You didn’t trade out the guys we were discussing being traded out… Holl Muzz mrazek kerfoot. The 20-21m figure is based on cutting bait on the entire middle section of the cap structure.Where is this 20 million in cap space we have if we don’t bring anyone back? Am I doing something wrong here?
Cap for next season is 82.5. If we don’t bring anyone back and just fill our roster with what we have we are left with 5.49 in cap space.
Edit: Nevermind I went back and retraced the whole conversation. I see what you are saying. Wish this was like Reddit and we can just keep chats the same.

FKNot like we have an option for someone proven. Goalies like Vasi and Shesterkin obviously aren’t available for trade. I wish we had a Jake Oettinger in our system.
I feel like we’ve totally neglected goaltending when it comes to the draft, instead deciding to pick up other teams scraps hoping they can cobble together a miracle run. It ain’t gonna happen in this market.
Whose the last goalie we drafted? I know there was that Russian guy, and Ian Scott who looked promising until injuries ruined his career. Woll too but he isn’t anything special at all.
We really need to emphasize drafting and developing goalies. It’s literally the only position where the guy is on the ice for all 60 mins. Don’t know why we’ve treated it as an afterthought all these years.
This is a great way to frame it.Campbell gave us adequate Chris Osgood level goaltending in the Tampa series, so I don’t want criticize him too much or be too harsh to a heart and soul goalie performance, but the Leafs are not the 90s Detroit Red Wings.
If we scrounge up some money to spend we need a serious goalie to give the Big 4 a real Plan B game. We likely can’t count on the big guns out scoring our problems in elimination games. Our role players don’t have that killer instinct to lift them up. I like Ville Husso.
I like Soupy. Good goalie and seems like a great guy. It sounds like he wants to stay, but also his last contract/ chance to make good money. I wouldn’t be surprised if he tests the market to see what he could get
You didn't fix it. You just changed it so it echoes your point of view.Fixed it!
Give me Husso pls.
I think a team looking for some skill in their top six will outbid the Leafs.
I don't expect him to be back
Is that what you took from that?So they are just flat out going after a cheaper goalie, not a better one. Yeah, cap hell

Those bottom lines and goalies on paper look brutal.Where is this 20 million in cap space we have if we don’t bring anyone back? Am I doing something wrong here?

Freidman was on the fan today and it doesn't sound like Jack will be back Freidman said they were very far apart that the Leafs Inital offer was 3 years at around 2.75 million per year.
This report makes me so happy, low ball the shit out of Campbell because if he takes it then he's a backup making backup money
if you piss him off then you can go out and get a real #1 and hopefully a real backup to, because you can't bring him back he's to injury prone and when he did play he sucked, you need to trade him or LTIR him or something but you need to use that money elsewhere.
but Back to Campbell it doesn't sound like he's back and that's a good thing we need better than a 3.15 GAA and 897 save% come playoff time.
We need a guy that can close when he gets the chance, he had 3 cracks it against Montreal and 2 against Tampa and couldn't get it done.
I said it before I will say it again we need John Gibson you put John Gibson on this team and we aren't having these conversations we are talking about Florida.
Bunting had an unlucky injury just before the playoffs started.I disagree. Hyman was not replaced. Bunting was adequate but no replacement. Hyman is in the 2nd round and we aren't. Because of the signing of the not so big 4, Dubas tied his hands. He cannot afford a decent supporting cast, let alone a top tier goalie.
Yeah, really hard to place the blame on the goaltender who let in 2 goals against a favorite in the deciding game and lost.
There are many games we can place the blame on Campbell, but the 7th. game isn't one.
I do have one question, and that is at what point did his injury begin to impact his performance?
I've heard the Leafs did well with injuries this year, but really if your #1a an #1b keepers are injured is that really escaping injury?
Who are these goalies you speak of?That would be a dumb move. This team needs a bonafide top goalie to get to the next level. They need to stop looking for other teams young backups.
There is a few that are going to free agency. Keumper, Hudson are 2 that come to mind.Who are these goalies you speak of?
Right, but the maturation process being what it is, the next season, Osgood replaced Vernon and succeeded equally.Do you remember why the Wings had Vernon to begin with? Cause Chris Osgood got lit up by the expansion San Jose Sharks in 1994 as a rookie and forced the Wings to go get Vernon in 1995.
And then after the 1998 run he struggled in 1999, 2000 and 2001 before the Wings signed Hasek and put Osgood on waivers and that's how he ended up on the Island.
I would love Kemper who's played mostly in Ari, I mean this run with Col could help and that could be a factor, but playing in Tor is a totally different beast than Arizona, and I am sure there will be competition to sign, a lot of risk there and not much more security than what we have. I'd rather go after Blackwood if available, allow him to grow with the group and help unlock his potential. There is a few that are going to free agency. Keumper, Hudson are 2 that come to mind.
I highly doubt any other team is going to pay him $5m. He is injury prone and can't get paid like a 60gm+ starter when he can barely handle 35-40 games. That means a team has to either have a very good back up or invest in one which raises the whole cost for a team.2.75 is fair given the role he should play with the team. Can have some wiggle up to the low 3s. If he's looking for more than 5 there's no way this gets done and it's a good thing.
We made Kallgren look half decent...so we should make him look pretty good. Same tier as Jack for probably a lot less. What's the Leaf fan's opinion on Varlamov?
And yet at the TDL some here were saying Dubas did well by not picking up a goalie because who is betterThere's also a ton of goalies available.
