If Dubas somehow can rid the payroll of Petr Mazrek, that would be quite an accomplishment! It would be insane to resign Soupy Campbell long term for him to make less than Mazrek.
I like Soupy. Good goalie and seems like a great guy. It sounds like he wants to stay, but also his last contract/ chance to make good money. I wouldn’t be surprised if he tests the market to see what he could get
Maybe it will not be that hard, when the goalies musical chairs is done some teams will still need at least a backup, and probably teams that are not very good and have cap space.
agree. This is the exact opposite of what I imagine the Leafs want to do. Their team is built to win now and has a window of opportunity to do it. The last thing you'd want is an unproven goalie, with no playoff experience and needs to develop as the season goes on.
