Granlund.

Yes please!

Convert Strome into assets, even if it's not for much, then sign an upgrade in Granlund. Potential bonus is that he's Finnish and that might be nice for Kakko.

This is exactly how you smartly manage assets.

More than you love that fake Callahan jersey?

Depending on what’s available on FA, I wonder if the team has entertained trading for Laine or Nylander. I don’t imagine either of those would be cheap, but for some time now both have been rumored to be on the way out of their respective clubs. Both players can play RW. I would imagine the other way would feature Buch and DeAngelo — maybe a defensive prospect as well (we are stacked there anyway).

Lundqvist could've gone anywhere. He must know with Samsonov being a kid, he can struggle next year, and then the net is his again, temporarily.
Washington is probably the best combination of things Hank would covet.

-Close to home.
-Contender team trying to win.
-Most importantly: Platoon with a young starter who is not full established could result in more playing time.

I don't see it as a bad move by Washington either and I think ppl saying that are having their opinions warped by what went down the second half of last season. Hank obviously isn't what he was anymore but I'm fully confident he's at the very least an average backup.

I think being motivated and behind good defensive structure he can be even more, but at the very least he's a good backup. Then you add in that he's cheap and only one year commitment and the intangibles he brings as legendary work ethic and competitiveness hopefully rubbing off on Samsonov. I really don't see the downside from Washington's perspective. It's not like they signed him to 3x4.5 or something.

Caps are still a rival. This is a kick in the nuts. Also the Flyers would be unacceptable.

Hank wants to play and Washington gives him the best chance to do that. There may not be that many teams even offering a contract. There are lots of other goalie options out there.

Of all the teams in the metro, him being on Washington is one of the ones I mind the least. Devils, Islanders, Pens or Flyers would be way worse.
