You're good people.

I don't think playoffs are easy in our division but I like some optimism around the team.

The big "three" all got weaker. Tampa losing some players plus being up to the cap, Leafs having goalie uncertainty and the Panthers essentially have no draft capital left so no TDL moves next season. Ottawa completely revamped their top 6, Detroit just got way deeper defensively as well. Going to be a very grindy season.

I just decided to cover everything in plastic sheeting. My place looks like an episode of Dexter

One underrated potential pickup on D is Matt Roy. They'll have 4-5 NHL level RD when Doughty and Walker come back from IR, they'll need to ship at least one out imo

Not sure what LA would want in return tho

Been banging this drum for a while.

Offer Klingberg big money on a 2YR deal with the promise of being able to run the top PP.

I assume the reason he hasn't signed is that he's not getting the average he wants on a long-term deal because of the flat cap environment and lack of suitors.

Gets to pad his stats big time over the next couple years running what should be one of the better PPs in the league, chase a cup on a legit contender and then hopefully cash in on his success here.

Chabot may be a little pissed off at losing his top PP spot, but hey he requested that Dorion add talent. Only has himself to blame. Besides he'd still get to play with two of our top 6 forwards on PP2.

Do it on a 1-year deal.

With Norris now signed, we have $64M in dollars going out next season (including for buyouts/retention), and a reported budget of $74M.

We still have Formenton and Joseph. Let's say each gets $2.5M in real dollars next year. That gets us to $69M.

If we lose Zaitsev's $2.5M base, we can comfortably offer Klingberg a 1 year $6.5M dollar deal. He can come in and hopefully pad his stats in a non-Bowness system, and we kick the can of getting a more long-term option in there for another season.

Klingberg 2 x 6 would not be a bad gamble if we can dump zaitsev at a reasonable cost.

If even 30% of his troubles the last two seasons are the coach, we're getting a solid top4 defenseman signed for reasonable term. If 100% are coach and system, he would be an absolute steal.
