Zaitsev at 2 is a bad defender. Zaitsev at 4.5 is a bad defender. No … not many right D easy to acquire that are better then z at $2.5 and don’t cost assets to acquire.
This is why the criticism for acquiring Hamonic was soooo misplaced by the usual Dorion haters here.
Alright which one of you did thisLol, Wikipedia currently says that Dobson plays for the Ottawa Senators…

Anderson is better than Weeger but their D is spectacular.
I like Weegar more personally but i can see how someone would like Anderson. I dont think Anderson plays with as much jam and isnt as versatile.
While I’m sure it’s just someone playing a prank. I Can’t help but wonder if someone in the know made the switch regarding Dobsons profile . Perhaps this is one of Lou’s 4 deals that Weekes is talking about.
Havent seen Weegar play but Anderson is an all around stud.I like Weegar more personally but i can see how someone would like Anderson. I dont think Anderson plays with as much jam and isnt as versatile.

The criticism behind the acquisition of Hamonic is that he isn’t good. We shall find out if he is. I think we will find out really quickly too

Simply dont agree if you think Weegar doesnt play hard or with emotion or for his teammates. I dont know how much of him you've watched if thats what you think. To say Anderson is 'easily the better player' just isnt correct. Weegar also does it all they are similar in that they are effective in all aspects of the game. Anderson is a great player too, this isnt discounting him in any way they are close. Weegar is more versatile to me in that he can play either side seamlessly. He lead the NHL in even strength points for d men in the 2021 season. Last year he was plus 40 and didnt play any first PP minutes while scoring 44 points. He also played 27 minutes a game when Ekblad went down switching from LD to RD.Andersson has that IT factor that Weegar hasn't shown.
Andersson plays with far more heart and soul. He's easily the better player currently. Interesting to call Andersson not as versatile. He can do it all.
Andersson and Dobson among very few I'd include Greig easily for. Brilliant talents.
No way I offer Greig for Weegar.
We are not getting Dobson, though. He is one of the most untouchable players league wide. He's like how we value Sanderson.. after he pans out.
This is just pure speculation? Ive heard the opposite. If true that's interesting. I'd think that might make a trade more likely. I want Chychrun badly for many reasons including my belief that Zub has no intention of re-signing in Ottawa.

You wouldnt trade Grieg for an extended Weegar?..... But people would give up Grieg + + + for Churchurn? So strange Weegar is a better player right now and is a righty.

I dont really think that Chychrun is any better defensively and Weegar plays a physical brand of hockey as well. Weegar had a tough playoff but that is really not indicative of how he usually plays. He isn't proned to those types of gaffs very often. I keep seeing this narrative but its not very accurate. Chychrun has really struggled with defensive zone coverage. He has hardly played RD and cant stay healthy.Weegar certainly plays hard and with emotion, and he's fantastic at getting the puck up the ice, but he's not a stalwart defensively and is prone to making some gaffes. Regardless, he's a legitimate top 4 (potentially top 2) defenseman, plays a side where there's significant scarcity, so he's in line for $6.5-7.5M on his next contract.
The reason Chychrun is seen as more valuable amongst this fanbase is that he brings a more defensive, physical game, is 4 years younger, and will be $2-3M cheaper per season for the next 3 years.
I really like Weegar and would have been happy to bring him here. But I'd much prefer Chychrun.

Just a very strong feeling. He's been here two years and still doesn't speak the language. Dorion never mentions him as an item on his to do list. I hope I'm wrong but I think Dorion has already sounded out Zub's management and there was little enthusiasm for remaining in Ottawa. I suspect that Zub would like to go somewhere with more Russians on the team and a larger Russian community in the city. Of course I could be wrong.Based on ?
Agreed on all accounts but Weegar is a late bloomer dont think thats the case with Chychrun. Considering the ask on Chychrun the sens shouldnt be thinking about giving up that much. Not at this point for the franchise and where they are currently at. Weegar isnt coming here so im not really sure why im debating it haha. But just that he is better than some posters have suggested.Perhaps, but as I mentioned, Chychrun is 4 years younger than Weegar. If you look back at what Weegar was when he was 24, or project out what Chychrun will be at 27/28, it tilts the argument to Chychrun's side even. Especially for this team.
The extra 2 inches and extra 20lbs is a big advantage, too.
What the hell does that matter? It's tough learning a new language in your mid 20s, and it's not like signing with another team means he wouldn't need to learn english... There really aren't a lot of teams with more russians anyways not seeing that as a factor.Just a very strong feeling. He's been here two years and still doesn't speak the language. Not buying the vibes thing or the Russian thing. They may not have known at first but they know now. I am sure there are a few balls in the air right now.Just a very strong feeling.
