Arizona fan coming in peace. Is Kevin Francis connected in anyway? Talks a big game but something seems off.

Can you link sources with everything you say?
His source is Kevin Francis from Hockeybuzz. I looked it up and what he is saying is based on tweets from Kevin Francis and his articles on Hockeybuzz.

As multiple people have pointed out before neither Kevin Francis nor Hockeybuzz are considered reputable sources with credible insider information. It is just pure speculation,

Others have pointed this out before so I am not sure why he keeps posting Francis's speculations as if they are insider information. The question you should ask is not "Can you link sources with everything you say?" but instead "What evidence do you have that would suggest that Kevin Francis is in any way, shape or form a credible reputable insider that should be taken seriously?"

Eh, if we can all run off at the mouth with whatever opinions we want, he can post ‘rumours’ from Kevin.

I don’t think @Crosside is arguing that he’s an insider. He’s choosing to run with the guy for now, and it’s not the worst thing run with in here by a long shot!

I don’t see the big deal here really. Let’s not forget that we used to post every Eklund rumour credible or not just because it was fun.

These particular rumours sound great, so why not have a little fun with it?

Grieg + 1st + 2nd + zaitsev
I think I’d rather figure a package without Grieg or Pinto.

I actually liked the package crosswise posted, something around Formenton and Either Tompson or JBD, maybe Branstrom, along with next years first, some other assortment of picks and Zaitsev, for Chycrun and Crouse.

We should keep Aragorn happy after all :)

Crazy thought....do the numbers work to hang on to Zaitsev for the year, and bring in a true top 4 RD?

He's overpaid, but still a serviceable blueliner, and it would be nice simply to have another healthy body there this season, just in case. And maybe that contract would be easier to move or buy out next summer, perhaps?

They work if we can get Formenton resigned and that top 4D at a combined 6M. Not a lot of top 4 D going for under 3M that's for sure.

Don’t know how we acquire Chychrun without losing Greig or Pinto.

In that case I don’t want him.

Well we gotta give to get. Both those guy look like middle 6 players. I’d prefer to move Greig personally (I actually think he’s a bit overrated around these parts)

It’s worth it as part of a deal for a top pairing dman

Still think the entire key to the season success is Cam Talbot. If he plays anywhere his play last season we are a playoff team and a very dangerous playoff team

I wonder how trading Zaitsev might factor into Zub signing another contract with the team?

Seems like your mind is made up on how Zub's future plays out

No … just slanted one way vs the other.

I think the really low salary was Zub taking a hair cut to avoid giving the Sens any UFA years … the alternative is what? Dorion refused to give him a bit more for a 3-4 year deal ? Possible I guess.

Zub had what? Less than 50 NHL games under his belt when he signed his 2 year deal?

And we had 2 first round RHD picks in the pipeline

I didn't have an issue with the term when he signed it. And if Zub came out this past season with a less than stellar year and was locked up for 3 more, Dorion would be crucified on these boards.

Zub didn't have a lot of bargaining power and Dorion didn't need to buy up Ufa years coming off 47 games in a weird season

We’ll see… we’ve underpaid him and now he’s months away from going where ever he wants.

Not sure what type of connections he’s made here, but he probably has friends in other cities and now he has all the leverage.

Beyond injury protection and hanging out with a bunch of American 20 years olds we can offer him much at this point.

Your outlook on just how poor a destination this city is is not something I share.

Certainly Dorion could have signed Zub to a 4 by 4 type deal that in hindsight might have been great. Hindsight might also have led to a Zaitsev situation where arguably his best season in the NHL was his first. Hindsight might also have led to those two first round RHD picks being ready to play and us having a log jam

I try not to apply hindsight to what's transpired in the hockey world.

The Zub situation doesn’t add up to me. When Dorion signed Zub he talked about Thomson and JBD being ready when the 2 year contract was up. Extension hasn’t been discussed yet according to the agent. We are looking to add a top 4 RD this off season without too much term according to Brucie.

Does Dorion not think as highly of Zub as DJ and the fans ?
