Everybody has to admit that trading for Karlsson would be fun from a pure chaos POV.
I don't think it would be. Maybe if he really sucked, but he's 34 years old and seems like a very mature guy at this point.

I think the idea that he would be a problem personality is wildly off base at this stage of his career.

Maybe we should pump the brakes on the Norris trade talks until someone else shows they can take that 2C spot. We've been yearning for centre depth for years.
For sure. He looks way better than Pinto out there right now, on another level than him, so not feeling great about that potential swap atm.

Word. He's rusty and still pace for 30 goals?

Homie just knows how to score.
He’s also taking most of our important faceoffs in the d-zone and him and Giroux are a nice PK duo. I think his 200 ft game keeps improving too.

I get the contract and injury risks but I think we’d end up regretting it if we traded him.

We don’t exactly land high quality players every summer anyway, I don’t care about cap space if all it typically gets us are aging vets, no offence.

An unmotivated Karlsson will get 40 points
A motivated one 90 pts/ 20g
(Had 101p/25g when motivated to go to a contender)
He's on pace for 50-55 right now. Karlsson can't lead a team with Crosby, Letang, and Malkin. They got their cups and their cash. I'm sure Karlsson is still hungry to win and that could be what this team needs. Who on the Sens Roster has proven to be elite and push others to match their manhood? The coach ain't shit so he's not going to do it. Giroux is all class and ain't that guy. You bring Karlsson in and he looks at Brady and says try to keep up "Captain". Either Brady crumbles under the pressure or he takes it as a challenge to compete at the next level.

Norris now has 9 goals, plays both PP and PK, is a center, good in the dot and the only thing I see missing is his one timer. Is it because of his shoulder or is it because of how they've setup the PP? Centers are harder to find than wingers. Those that already play 200-ft game even harder.

I don't get why so many want to trade him after he's finally back and seems to be holding up.
For me its paranoia over his shoulder. I love how he's played (even if his slapper isn't what it used to be)

Karlsson isn't getting 90 points anywhere.

He had one abnormal season that would never happen again

If you get a good version of EK he's a 50-60 point guy who isn't great elsewhere but isn't a complete liability, and the chances of that are decreasing more and more moving forward
Ok but at 40 Lidstrom had 62 points. You don't think Karlsson could string together 3 or 4 more 60 point seasons. Low for him but still extremely productive for this team.

It's not low for him, it would be a good year for him at this point. And that's just offense, the rest of his game has been extremely lacking.

He has only gotten 60 points one time in the past seven seasons since leaving Ottawa.

Since when was Karlsson a problem?

Injuries, and Covid does that. When plays at least 70 games he has shown to be a ppg player.

I don't even think he was, but I have been disputing this notion that he would be a strong personality disruption now and I would argue that even if there were any issues before, I don't see that happening with a 34 year old that's matured like he clearly has. Dude is a man, he isn't going to come in and be a dinkus like some imply. Him and Brady would hit it off imo.

That's when we were a "one line team" and everything fell apart when that exposed the following year?

One injury and we're f***ed.
But it was one of the most exciting seasons for an NHL team in the last 30 years. At this point I would take a loss in the finals and not the shit show this team has been for the last 7 years. Had it not been for the salary cap we would have been a dynasty.

You know how averages work right?
Yes, do you?

Can you explain to me which is a ppg and which isn't?

10p in 10gp

7p in 10 gp?

Tbf he has paced for it or just shy 2 other times and paced or achieved above 55 twice in that time.

2020-21 was a down year offensively, but other than that, if he plays, you can bank on at least 55 points.

lol what?
He’s played more than 70 games 7 times and has twice been a PPG game player - this includes his early years.
He literally played 82 last year and 56 pts.
He’s a good offensive player right now, but he not going to come here and be PPG.

In the hypothetical event that we get EK, he's going to score at a 60-70pt pace. No way he doesn't shit out points on our PP.

Granted Chabot and Sanderson's PP time will reduce by like 90%

Karl is just ok on the PP. For how good he is offensively, he tilts the ice best at even strength. Is he better than Sandy and Chabot on the powerplay? Probably, but I don't think it's clear-cut. Sanderson has been struggling, but he is still very good up top on the powerplay. EK would also be good fora few no-effort shorties against.

I'm sure Dubas thought EK would rack up points passing to Crosby and Malkin, but that didn't pan out.

You bring up a good point about Sanderson and Chabot losing PP time. There's diminishing returns in acquiring an offensive D when we already have a couple guys more than capable of running our powerplays.

Maybe EK does succeed here and puts up 60-70 points, but that might mean Sanderson/Chabot get 10-20 less points from not getting the same kind of PP time.

If we're adding a D we'd be better off looking at another Jensen/Zub type defensive D that doesn't need PP time or offensive opportunity to provide value to the team.

Sanderson has been great on the PP this year.

3rd in the league among D.

He has the highest % of his points as PP in the league for D with over 10 games played, which is another issue entirely.
