Nope, bad idea imho.

If you’ve watched Karlsson lately, he’s not even trying to defend. Players blow right by him, he makes a feeble waive of his stick as they go by, and they score goals.

It's not what we need imho. Nostalgia is strong though.

And as much as I love Erik, that's absolutely not what we need in the room.

Just get a purely defensive RD that can fill in on the second pair. Doing worry about points. Just someone who won't let guys sit int he paint and makes life hard for opposition forwards.

And we also need to prepare for the possibility that Yak may be spending next season in the AHL.

To be fair, I'm sure Karlsson would be a hell of a lot more motivated playing for his home team where he had all his success in his career with his mentor as his assistant coach vs playing for a terrible Pittsburgh team.

That being said, I don't think it's a good idea to trade for Karlsson. Maybe if we get him for dirt cheap and Pittsburgh retains.

He's led the team in scoring 4 of the last five yrs & has led this team in numerous other categories. He's the best player on the team.

Trade Stutzle, he is terrible defensively & keeps giving the puck away.
For me, Brady yaps, hits and fights. As for his production, it's due to his cheating for offense, being on 1st line with Stu and PP1.

For me, Stu is our best player. He's been improving defensively this season. He's only 22, imagine what his game will look like when he's Brady's age.

Brady is usually the last one to enter the D zone and the first to leave, rarely backchecks, looks lost playing in the D zone. I expect the captain to lead by example, not endlessly yap about having to do better. Just do it already.

I'd trade Norris for a deal involving Crouse but we'd probably have take back another contract to balance out the salary. Maybe Maata or Cole on D?
Norris now has 9 goals, plays both PP and PK, is a center, good in the dot and the only thing I see missing is his one timer. Is it because of his shoulder or is it because of how they've setup the PP? Centers are harder to find than wingers. Those that already play 200-ft game even harder.

I don't get why so many want to trade him after he's finally back and seems to be holding up.

Where does this idea that Norris is untradeable come from? Is it strictly injury history? Cause there's nothing in his game that suggests he can't be traded for something of value. On pace for ~35 goals (T37 in the league in goals), defensively responsible, elite faceoff guy, top unit penalty killer...he's not racking up the assists but his most common linemates are struggling hard at even strength scoring (Giroux, Greig, Batherson).
Hmm, reading the list of what he brings to the table makes me wonder why so many are ready to trade him. If he plays 82 games this year, that means his shoulder surgery was successful. I don't see Norris as the problem on this team. We need more talent, not less.

If people want to see a trade of a core player to shake things up, then Brady is the logical choice. That would shake things up big time. Would also remove the top 6 forward that seems to be the most resistant to playing 200-ft game and embracing the details away from the puck.

I would also give him back the captaincy. Pitt would have to retain and if we could keep Norris would be a bonus. The only way we could make it work would be giving away an 8 million dollar player and that is the only reason why you trade Norris. I would rather keep Norris and swap out Chabot but I doubt anyone in the league thinks that highly of him. Norris still has potential.

So staios has to do something on D if only to save Green. Green will play hamonic until he himself is fired.

Also last time zub was hurt we managed to have 2 good pairs still.

Now we have zero good pairs because he flipped Jensen and jbd.

We just need a serviceable guy. Tierney should have a list of recommendations

An unmotivated Karlsson will get 40 points
A motivated one 90 pts/ 20g
(Had 101p/25g when motivated to go to a contender)

While I'd love to get an improvement over Hamonic, he really hasn't been the problem imo.

I'm also not going to read too much into yesterdays game, it was awful, but they've shown they are capable of much better, so burn the tape and move onto the next game.

We had the same pairings against Cgy (aside from the ~12 mins Chabot missed after blocking a shot) and the only pair that I'd say struggled was Kleven and Jensen.

Karlsson isn't getting 90 points anywhere.

He had one abnormal season that would never happen again

If you get a good version of EK he's a 50-60 point guy who isn't great elsewhere but isn't a complete liability, and the chances of that are decreasing more and more moving forward

Hamonic playing over 20 a night is a problem. Nothing is THE problem. There’s are simply problems that we should work on to fix.

Not disputing that
Was written at the past tense
But he's still pacing for 51 points on a mess of a Pitts team (probably highly unmotivated rn)
For reference Chabot who according to many has a solid season is pacing for 41 points
Personally I think EK can still hit 70-75 points here if everything is clicking
