I wouldn’t mind Pageau back to create some real depth on the team, but for 3 years at $5M is gonna handcuff us like the Isles right now when Greig, Sanderson, Chychrun, and maybe Pinto have contracts up in 2 years.
We better get a 1st rounder back for taking on that contract.
They tried, I assume that was the place , ADC wouldn’t sign an extension with. As there was one place he turned down a deal.I think if the Senators wanted Pageau they'd have gone down that path with the DeBrincat trade.
Andrew Gross was the islanders reporter that broke the story about the NYI package, and his source indicated that NYI felt DBC would sign with them but the Sens didn't like the package (likely because of Pageau's salary). They tried, I assume that was the place , ADC wouldn’t sign an extension with. it was the Wahlstrom, Pageau , 2026 first coming back.
But I also read that DBC wouldn’t extend there when asked,Andrew Gross was the islanders reporter that broke the story about the NYI package, and his source indicated that NYI felt DBC would sign with them but the Sens didn't like the package (likely because of Pageau's salary).
I thought I read something the other day that said Kane would not sign with anyone prior to the season. If that's true, he may be looking to pick his spot based on how the first half goes. How the hell have guys like Tarasenko, Kane and Tatar not signed? Top-6 level talent presumably just sitting there.
Kane is injured or recovering from surgery, Tatar sucks and who the hell knows what Tarasenko wants to do.How the hell have guys like Tarasenko, Kane and Tatar not signed? Top-6 level talent presumably just sitting there.

Russians gonna Russian.Gotta say it's fun seeing Russians leaning into the "enigmatic" stereotype.
Geez. That sucks as a package. Glad we got Kubalik in the deal, I guessAndrew Gross was the islanders reporter that broke the story about the NYI package, and his source indicated that NYI felt DBC would sign with them but the Sens didn't like the package (likely because of Pageau's salary).
Too much risk with what's riding on this season. I keep spit balling Chabot for Nylander (signed), but he's just too soft and asking for too much! Most LW are probably in place. Interested in adding to our mix. I wonder what the cost of a Lafreniere would be. Unproven yet but potential
I think the latest we'll know is next Monday since the Samsonov situation will be resolved by Friday the latest, and the Leafs get another 48 hr buyout window once Samsonov signs a contract. If we're still in on Tarasenko, waiting on the MM buyout makes sense for both parties
Should find out this week
That would really be putting the squeeze on Pinto but the numbers work
I would do Joseph for Pageau + 2nd.
Sens get a more serviceable player in pageau for 2m more in net cap. Get out of a shitty contract for a slightly bad contract
Best idea I've seen yet. I've also seen Pinto 2C Norris LW/C. Mentor like Giroux. Flip back and forth as they feel it.
So the cap hit works and fits under when you factor Sandy’s increase next year and Chychrun’s the year after.
My original point was that be adding Keller and Crouse for literally almost anything over the next 2 years is fine.
give them our entire draft the next 2 years for all I care.
That roster can be kept together for as long as we choose to keep it.
Tkachuk Stutzle Giroux
Keller Norris Batherson
Crouse Pinto Greig
Kastelic macewen
Chabot Chychrun
Sandy Zub
Kleven JBD
Korpisalo
Sogaard
I have no problem selling out whatever picks and prospects to have that team for the next 5+ years.
Oof. Idk about that. Pageau was getting 17 + minutes a night in NYI. He's not getting that here. Nostalgia wise, I get it. But if we have a relatively injury free year, we're in decent shape down the middle. That 5M price tag is a problem
Cap restrictions have changed what a negative asset means. For instance, if Pages was placed on waivers would he get claimed, my guess is that he wouldn’t.

Rumours are ADC wouldn’t sign an extension there when asked, after PD negotiated those players. Not much you can do, if won’t sign the extension. We're stupid because Pageau + Wahlstrom + 1st is better than what we received, both now and in the future as the Isles first could become good in the near future, that team is aging
Kane is injured or recovering from surgery, Tatar sucks and who the hell knows what Tarasenko wants to do.

Not that Sens were stupid, couldn’t close deal.

The above deal is pure speculation. How about sticking to criticizing actual facts. We're stupid because Pageau + Wahlstrom + 1st is better than what we received, both now and in the future as the Isles first could become good in the near future, that team is aging
You are leaving out the extra $2.5 million cap hit of Pageau and his extra 2 years with a M-NTC. Those are all negatives.1st vs 1st : ???
Pageau >> Kubalik
Wahlstrom >> Sebrango + 4th
If that package sucks, imagine the one we got. I'd need some explanations here
Well it wasn’t Sens didn’t like package, it was ADC wouldn’t extend there.Yet, he's exactly what we need and would be our 6th best forward right away. Since trading Nick Paul and Connor Brown we have been in dire need of 2-way forwards good at ES/EV
We don't need Kane and Tarasenko and spend more assets to fix our cap situation (Zaitsev and 75% of Murray contracts already cost 2nd + 3rd + 4th + 7th to dump)
1st vs 1st : ???
Pageau >> Kubalik
Wahlstrom >> Sebrango + 4th

Defense has been a weakness for a while and now that we finally have a full top-4, people want to trade Chabot? We don't need more offensive forwards.... particularly one that will be very expensive.
I mean, we just went thought the DeBrincat saga... I thought it was clear that it was not the "right move" for the team?
My post was hypothetical, IF what Micklebot reported was true : "the Sens didn't like the package"
