Sounds like all they can afford to do now is sign Kakko and maybe pocket the rest for a deadline acquisition.

Panarin - Trocheck - Kakko
Kravtsov - Chytil - Blais
Hunt - Goodrow - Reaves

Brodzinski and Ryhdal

Lindgren - Fox

It's a worse team than last year and an injury or two away from goodrow and or blais in the top 6.

I think they left the door open for othmann or Willy to make the team. Quite honestly they need one of them to make the team to establish anything resembling forward depth.

How is it a worse team? The blueline is the same. You expect jumps from the youngins back there. Another year of experience. Laf, Kakko, Chytil, it's time to take the next step. I don't agree with this. It's a worse team if they don't improve, sure.

In an ideal world you don’t have Reaves playing everyday and Hunt is a 13th forward but idk we’ll see what else they do.

Losing Motte sucks but it is what it is

If they go into the season with $800k in cap space, how much does that translate to at the trading deadline?

Someone doesn’t grasp the magnitude of the upgrade from Strome to Trocheck. As long as the kids take even moderate steps forward this team is in great shape.

Overall, 8/10 for Drury today. The Trocheck deal is a good value. Very good value. Yeah it is 7 years but in years 6/7 you find a way to maneuver out. I like the Halak and Domingue signings. Domingue will be a great guy for Hartford.

While it blows that Drury had to pay that much to dump Nemeth, unlike other GM's I appreciate that he recognized he made a mistake and worked to rectify it. Other GM's have too much pride/ego to basically say "yeah I definitely f***ed up on this one, let me fix it". If he can find a way to re-sign Motte, it will go to like a 9.5/10.

Maybe it lies there too, but someone should get to the root of it, we got too many young guys around this team.
I think it’s the philosophy. The whole “uRn It” thing. It’s just weird that they don’t view it the same way for defensemen. They just throw them in the fire.

Also the organization has committed to Kreider, Zib, Panarin. This means the kids have not gotten important minutes and power play (1) time.

Unfortunately, I think these kids need that to work out the kinks before they become what they’re supposed to become. Look at Jack Hughes, Mercer. They’re fed important minutes, PP1 time, and they’re personally responsible for the success of the team. There isn’t a bystander effect like there is here where the kids defer to the adults. That’s why the kids play well together. They’re not afraid of being chastised by the veteran group. I think things will change now that strome is gone.

I'm sure plenty of teams willing to spend are concerned about Strome's surgery.

And there are plenty other major pieces yet to fall which may delay Ryan's signing as someone's plan B

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, this season is nut cutting time for the kids. They’re going to have to put their big boys pants on and step into important rolls. I’m extremely confident they will after the postseason they had, but we need to see it over 82 games.

I really like the Trocheck signing. The term is long, but he’s a really good player. I think MSG is gonna love him too.
