At this point with know GG well enough to know reaves will be a regular. Gallant was a goon himself haha, he values guys like reaves and feels it keeps the team healthy through the year because no one takes run at our guys with him there (despite him barely fighting last year)

Reaves has a useful purpose on this team in the regular season. I say play him most of the year and then make a switch when necessary when playoffs come around. Also, I'd bet my next paycheck on him coming into camp lighter and faster this year, not to say he will be fast but faster.

Mottes better but price has to be considered. In a flat cap world when youre up against it, rolling with hunt at $750K over motte at $2mm isnt going to change much for this team other than more cap space to improve the team at the deadline

Oh, yeah, it's not happening unless you find a taker for Reaves. After Kakko and a depth D, league minimum C/13th forward, there's really nothing left.

This is what I got right now. $483,531 in cap space. If they have no health issues to begin the year, I'd send Rydahl down to have over 1.1M and call him up when needed. Maybe do it with Hajek (no way he gets claimed) instead and get the extra 50K.

There will be more cap gymnastics this year than last to accrue as much space as possible. You could see Schneider, Jones, Rydahl, or anyone not requiring waivers, getting sent down and called up to build up some extra space for deadline pickups.

I understand that and I said it would be something the organization needs to figure out where the problem lies. But to place the blame, particularly for someone like Lias Andersson, squarely on Drury? That's unfair. Like Lias talked about feeling alone and isolated, having sleeping issues, the foot thing he claimed the team would let him rehab where and when he wanted, being unhappy with his role on the NHL, etc. Like how is that on Drury?

How much of it is agent grandstanding, as well? Kakko's last recorded public comment was that he took the message of Gallant's scratching to heart and wanted to come back stronger. HIs agent is talking up smack on his behalf, while he goes to being a 21-year-old young adult for a couple of months and live a normal life.

Seems like a major oversimplification to say Drury was "the issue" with Andersson and Kravtsov, who both apparently had numerous issues.

I mean your point is taken that the organization needs to figure out what's going on, but it seems really unfair to pin the problems of those two squarely on Drury.
No no no 2k2. Haven’t you heard? Drury is terrible. Gorton is the Messiah. Any issues are Drury’s doing. Any successes are accredited to Gorton.

When one 1st rounder bails....its a weird situation, when 2 bail its a problem, the third one is a massive red flag. No other team has this issue that I'm aware of. We can't just pretend its not a problem and the common denominator in all of them is Drury as everyone else has been let go.
Ok so even if Drury only played a bit part, or no part at all, in Lias Andersson's situation, we need to hold him accountable for it because we already fired the guys who were primarily culpable. Sure, that logic checks out.

Look, he's the GM, what happened last year, what's happening now, what happens moving forward, that's all on him. He played some role in the Kravtsov situation but clearly the previous regime, including Bobrov, also played major roles. What happens with Kakko? Sure, that rests with him.

I said they need to find the root of the problem....what's wrong with that?

Did qualifying Hajek and Gauthier make them unable to afford Motte?

such is the way for CBJ, make a "major play" for top free agents in the 11th hour and report that to their fans.

Remember when it went down to CBJ and NYI for Panarin? Johnny Hockey will be a Ranger by close of business.

No. Any player making 1.125 mil or less essentially has no bearing on our ability to afford other players, because those players can be sent down without any cap penalty.

“If the Kakko thing is a thing, this franchise needs to find out what is going on. Apparently Drury was the issue with Andersson and Kravtsov so is he the issue here too? If this is the case this needs to be addressed and quickly, we can't continue to have our 1st rounders want out.”

You wrote this not us. Seems like you are pretty much implying who you’re target is for the “root of the problem”. But go on, continue to blame Drury.
