Trocheck deal looks like a bargain compared to some of these deals being thrown around. wtf is Yzerman doing? he's had a brutal day.

Yep. Trocheck addresses a lot of things this team needs and absolutely makes the Rangers better for this season. But I just keep getting hung up on the lack of flexibility for this team in terms of the roster and cap for future years as well as the pending extensions necessary for the younger group. I really hope the cap shoots up once the escrow is paid off and I also hope there's no heavy NMC/NTC on the Trocheck contract.

Also doesn't help that it took 2 pretty decent picks to dump Nemeth's 2.5 for 2 years so God only knows what moving a contract like Goodrow's might take in the future.

I think, optimistically, Goodrow should have a few good years left. By the time we need to get rid of him, we should be free of any other buyout cash on the cap, and the cap itself should finally have gone up--making a buyout less painful, or a salary dump less costly.

If the Kakko thing is a thing, this franchise needs to find out what is going on. Apparently Drury was the issue with Andersson and Kravtsov so is he the issue here too? If this is the case this needs to be addressed and quickly, we can't continue to have our 1st rounders want out.

Is Trochek that good? Idk why but I’ve always thought of him as a middle 6 guy he’s never been talked about as being that high end, although he had 75pts in a season once. Maybe it’s because he was on Florida? I feel like he’s not seen as a premier player

He is fairly good. Like Brassard. Could function as a No 1 C, but of course not carry a team.

My big concern is (a) if he will hold up for the duration of the contract and (b) how much this will hurt next summer.

yep. just 900k less just went to a guy, Mikheyev, who is a 3rd C at best. 2 years too long, but a good price for a true 2C.

Motte isnt worth what people think he is. Due to cap, give me hunt at $750K > Motte at 2mm

I like Emberson, don’t think he is just a contract add. Solid player who can log minutes, not the warrior Lindgren is but not very unlike him either. Ie a solid player.

We need depth at RD, don’t have any after Nils.

Motte is a luxury. We’ve got Goodrow, Blais, Rydahl, Reaves and Hunt all under contract for the bottom six. Just give Kakko what you can and see what happens in camp.

Have to agree with this. Trocheck is also a good PKer so Motte’s value your there is a little less of an immediate need
