I would say a 3x3 contract should be the absolute most for him

It really depends on what Bouchard gets.
At 3M per the Oilers could sign Kapanen+Perry and still have some money left for Brown.
Frederic to me isnt worth much more than either of the 3.

Hopefully he gets less than 3 per as you suggested but who knows.

On the other hand, if this is how Frederic played in a contract year (15 days from getting his next deal) then there isnt much in this player assuming he was healthy enough to send guys like Arvidsson\JSkinner to press box.

There were plenty of them. Janmark, Brown, Nuge, Kulak all looked great earlier but disappeared in Finals.
Ferederic never even showed up and shouldve been scratched for many more deserving.

I can't imagine the first line of business less than 24 hours after the Oilers lost in the Cup Finals would be to look at an 8 year deal on a guy who played all season like someone who didn't need to be in the lineup in Boston or Edmonton.

Hm. Frederic seems extremely "generic" to me? I guess if you are as bereft of depth options as Edmonton is, sure you probably want to keep him.

But that doesn't mean locking him down for 8 years? He's an "ok" bottom-6 player. But you can't go around giving up premium AAV or term to generic guys?
