Celebrity Death: Frank Vincent

Though really a smaller role I'll probably remember him most for his contribution to the cornfield scene in Casino, which unsettles me to this day. Vincent adding that flair of his signature cruelty atop Scorcese's naturalistic approach and Pesci's defeated anguish just burned that sequence into my brain--even though probably considered fairly tame even by the measures of its day with regards to the violence depicted, it's yet a far more effective portrayal of horror than what most films that pass themselves off as horror have ever accomplished. So to Frank, I raise my glass, you'll always have a place in my nightmares.

yeah the shinebox thing was funny the first 100 times

i absolutely hated phil on the sopranos but vincent played the hell out of that role. "you look like a puerto rican w***e."

RIP

Did great job in various roles usually related to Mob

He was also in Gotti which a lot of people don't remember. It was 90's mob movie on HBO about Gotti and his associates

Great death scenes in The Sopranos and Goodfellas

Rip, agree with One Blurred Eye about Casino as well, the sound of bats just hammering at a human body always disturbed me

Yet that beating was more realistic about how the mob dealt with their own. Even the Billy Batts scene was rather tame than what was to come in Casino.

In the end, Frank and Joe came out even.

RIP

So true, that death scene in Casino still gets me unsettled when I watch it. Such a great movie.

"No more shines, Billy." :(

Odd fact about Frank Vincent and Joe Pesci: they were in a band together in the 70s that mainly played weddings and small events. Their band also later released a Christmas song on 45.

I'd post links but youtube is closely monitored in the office.

Edit: here's a pic of the band with a link to the video a few responses into the tweet

looks like they got a replacement member in this poster. No word if he was whacked by Frankie or Joe.
