The Finnish tv commentator said that there's a rumour going around among journalists in the Olympic village that Foppa's groin hasn't healed as hoped and that he's packing his bags and getting ready to leave Turin. No official anouncement from the Swedish team so far..

I have heard that the local NBC affilate in Philadelphia recently ran a report saying that he was returing to the States on Friday.

yes and the report is totally false. Forsberg's doctor said to swedish media that Peter will test his groin on friday. Nothing has been decided yet. Just wishful hopes from the philly media.

we have the latest news on the situation here in sweden.

time will tell...you have to keep in mind that Philly media is extremely biased towards reporting that Forsberg is coming back...Swedish media is extremely biased in reporting that he is going to stay...at this point, any little comment from the Swedes and Forsberg camps are going to be blown out of proportion either way, it is best to just not speculate either way and wait for a concrete decision

And if there's one thing the American media is good at, its blowing things out of proportion. :sarcasm:

Finnish tv said that the source is SWEDISH journalist and the official announcement will be made tomorrow, Nylander will replace him.

Our coach was on TV like 10 minutes ago, and said that he was optimistic that Forsberg is going to play.

So much for that source. :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Out of curiosity, has Pete himself said anything to the Swedish media about all of this? Or has he been rather mum about the whole thing?

*Crossing fingers Pete is OK to play*

;)

Was just reading Mattias Ohlunds words from Aftonbladet, where he says that focusing too much on injured players is not recommended. He says others have to step up and take responsibility.

Have to agree with him on that.

That said, I still wish to see Foppa play. He's just that good.

If his injury isn't healed, can't he just stay there and enjoy watching the games as a spectator, instead of leaving? It's not like he can do much about it anyway, just rest it out.

And you believed him? :biglaugh:

No way Peter will be able to play, he shouldn´t have come in the first place.

If they were as sure as you seem to think, they would have sent for a replacement by now. BÃ…G is not that stupid.
You know, I wouldn´t be too surprised if that replacement comes from Switzerland instead of New York.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't be totally opposed to Christian Berglund. I've always liked him. But I don't want to see Andreas Johansson.

Can't argue with Ohlund's assessment.

Thanks for answering my question!

I have to say that Swedish media is extremely relyable (sp?) for someone who knows them. I can't say I've been "fooled" by them once. You know what rumors to trust and not trust and what reports to trust and not trust.

But their reports are also safe and they always covers both sides, allot better then what I get when I read NY papers. You say that they are "biased towards Forsberg comming to Turin". It couldn't be further from the truth. Of the top 10 columunists 5-6 have been very loud that Forsberg shouldn't be on the team and that the coach is making a misstake waiting for him..
