I’m a sucker for the Fiddler/Eaves/Horcoff archetype. Maybe I’m looking at those guys through rose colored glasses but I remember them all pretty fondly. I don’t know who those guys are in todays NHL.

Edit: Horcoff was a trade, apparently. That makes sense.

Horcoff was one of those guys on previous-CBA deals where the cash paid was much lower than the cap hit at the end of his contract. Nill was able to use cap space to add a guy making little actual cash from a team wanting no part of his higher cap hit. I also remember Horcoff being absolutely terrible until the playoffs came around where he was awesome.

Fiddler absolutely was a wonderful depth player. His straight line speed was what helped make those Ruff teams so fun. They had Benn and Seguin flying down the ice but also had depth guys who were fast. The transition game was a blast to watch.

Going to be interesting to see if/when Jani plays any games for the Leafs.
